Tropic Marin Pro worshippers out there (like me), anyone try the Bio Actif upgrade and see long term results?

Better be the BMW of salts as $110 per bucket makes it one of the most expensive...

I tried a bucket cuz it was the only TM salt left at the time, didn't really notice anything different for a month, so stuck with the TMP for $20 less. Might be different for long term use, but didn't use it longer than a month.

I tried a bucket of Tropic Marin Bio-Actiff since it was on sale at Tom's (socaltropical fish) a long time a few months ago and didn't notice any difference at all vs Tropic Marin Pro. Used Tropic Marin Pro for 2 years with GREAT/AWESOME results. Just switched to Red Sea Coral Pro, im still on my first bucket so its too soon to tell any difference but so far everything is the same. Corals all still doing great and im happy im saving $$$$$

still good

I let 65g of 1.026 SG tropic marin bio-actif sit for 2 weeks while I was on vacation. It was mixed for 12 hours a day by a 1300gph pump.

Yesterday I water changed 40g in my reef, 25g in my FOWLR. It was cloudy, and I suspect bacteria were growing in it. They were probably eating the secret organic additive.

My tanks cleared up in 12 hours. The coral and fish are happy! I was worried the dissolved O2 was low. I just had to supplement the alk and calcium for the reef tank because these parameters are always dissapointingly low with tropic marin. Still, this is an acceptable salt.

Just wanted to remind people not to let this salt sit more than 1day... it also says so on the instructions.

There's a long thread in RC that I can't give you a link to cause I'm "banned."

LOL, thanks for reminding me of that thread.

I went through 2 buckets of Tropic Marin BioActif since January and I did loose 1 old acro colony (a 4year old, 6inch diameter nice yellow wild colony) and a purple porites. I had a minor cyano bloom.

But, I had so many system changes to mention (and many still in the works). So I cant say for sure what the cause was. I also didnt do a water change for 6 weeks, not by choice.

Anyway, overall my experience wasnt bad with this salt or TMP. My SPS and clams are still growing outta control. They need fragging! The water is so clear people continue to say the fish are floating in space.

But I'm not buying any more BioActif because I cant detect any difference to justify the higher price.

Well that cyano business is what most users got after a few weeks of use. From what I gathered, it's good to start out with that one, then switch to the regular or pro.

I am using Red Seal Pro and my water is cloudy all the time, not sure if it's the salt or a algae bloom in the water.
