What are the pros and cons of running it on a system. I currently have an in-sump fuge, good skimmer, and a bag of carbon for my filtration and nutrient export.
I have a long list of fish and looking to stock up on corals soon. Would this be a good time to install a biopellet reactor vs later?

I would start it ASAP with 1/4 the recommended amount and increase 25% every 10-14 days until you reach the full recommended amount. I run biopellet full time on my tank and I also run GFO/Carbon part time.

If it ain't broke why fix it? If you're having success now, why take another possibly more expensive route?

Pellets are like 30 bucks or so and last 4-6 months. I forget the price of GFo but they need replacing every 2-4 weeks. Also if you have a heavy bio load and/or feed heavy, pellets are better suited at nitrate removal vs GFO.

However from what I gathered if you plan on primarily softies and/or lps, pellets aren't necessary as both feed off nitrates. Sips dominated would benefit from pristine water, which would be achieved from pellets.

Or I may be totally wrong. But that's what I gathered during my research. However if you decide on pellets do it now, as others stated above me.

I would say the cons are if you don't have enough food or pooh available you will starve your coral. This will be seen by dead or light colored coral.
Another con is cyano on sand and other places.

Pros, cheap and effective way to combat nitrate. Easy set up and is a no fuss system if it likes the import of food and dung.
