I've got a Coperband Butterfly that only eats black worms. The only LFS that sells them out here says they are not getting more until it cools down (too many dying in their orders apparently). Does anyone have suggestions on getting a small portion out to Indio? I'm not in OC until mid-month.

It's way more than I need. I've heard that larger portions will start to die off after about four weeks.

I've purchased from them and the worms are super clean and healthy. And the shipping is fast with FEdex.

I went ahead and split the colony up into a worm keeper, a plastic container with a bubbler. I was able to keep them alive and healthy for six weeks with water changes and bubblers. But I've learned more about keeping them. You really need a full filtration system with bacteria colonized foam. Along with charcoal. Feed should not be paper. Needs to be like fish pellets. Don't over feed. And keep the water running over them. And consistent temp.

I'm going to be in OC next weekend and probably monthly through the end of the year. By then, my LFS will hopefully be back to ordering them. I considered setting up a system for worms, but decided it's just too much.

If anyone here happens to be out in this area and wants to split orders, please let me know.

I really hate to say this man, but your copperband has a strong chance of being doomed. I've been in the same situation and it didn't end well and it didn't take particularly long. Blackworms are a pain to deal with and they aren't particularly nutritious either. I think I'm around 0 for 5 with copperbanded butterfly fishes over the 10 years I've been in reef keeping. Extremely difficult fish to keep. You need an extremely large system and a little bit of luck with the fish you get. Getting one from another reefer that somehow has one already eating and adjusted to captivity is one of the only ways I would think. Good luck.
