Bridgelux = less cost more LEDs
Cree = more cost less LEDs BUT you can run them with more intensity

I would do a t5/led mix for growth and color!

I have bridgelux and they are great. If the Crees are going to be ALOT more money, then I would say NO it's not worth it. I have around 80 bridgelux LEDs that are almost a year old, and I haven't had a single one burn out. If u plan on running all LEDs, I would suggest adding 2-T5s to help out with spectrum. And def get Dimmable drivers. Good luck

If i did cree i would get 2 or 3 diy 8puck(3led per puck) kits around $450-650
if i did bridgelux already made(110 leds) id be looking at around $450
if i did a diy kit and kept some of my t5's i could ad 90 bridgelux leds for around $350-400

Ya I'm using 2-80w t5s, and 80-3w bridgelux on my 180g tank. Now I think I'm a little under powered, but my tank is packed with healthy SPS. If u did 80-3w, and kept 2-t5s I think u would be set. I'm running an ATI blue+ and an ATI coral + (white) and I'm only using 9-6500k white LEDs. Just keep that in mind when ur choosing ur blue/white ratio. So that means on my tank I have 9 white and 71 blue. But remember that coral+ bulb is like a 12000k. Or u can add more white LEDs, and just run 2-ATI blue+s. the white LEDs give off more shimmer then the blues. Only reason I decided on the Coral + is because I felt like I was missing some spectrum with all LEDs.

Cree by far the best...even all the top led light fixtures use cree leds...like theu say you get what you pay for
I will admit that Crees are more efficient LEDs, but that is what u are paying for. And the name.

Just because bridgelux is cheaper, that doesn't mean they are lower quality. They are just a little older technology. Bridgelux LEDs today are what Cree was 2-3 years ago.

In other words Cree puts out more lumens per watt.

I have 82 Cree LEDs and love them. I think people underestimate how much power you need to run them at. I've been thinking of adding t5s like nick did but I want to give my tank a little more time to see how fast the sps grows under LEDs only.

90g SPS tank/75g display refugium. 180g fish only.

I also have bridgelux and no complaints here.

I run my whites @ 50% and Blues 100%.

I would like a little more power but for my 34g it is perfect
