newtothis used to be the plumbing guru. I know he has helped alot of people with their plumbing. I only put a union immediately after the bulk head. Ive rebuilt the piping for it like 3 times because of it. haha But when unions are 5$ it was just cheaper for me to rebuild than install a bunch of unions.

Teach me how to plumb it!!! Hahah. This will be my first plumb job really because my 50 gallon came with all the plumbing.
Haha

You will need a sump first, select your return pump, and whether or not you are going to run a manifold of some kind for other pieces of equipment. There are plenty of people here that can get you going in the right direction.

Once you get the equipment, give us the return and drain sizes, and sump layout (pictures of course) and we'll have you on your way.

How do you go about rinsing it?
fill a 5g bucket with 1/2 sand and run water through it, stir dump and repeat until somewhat clear. Last rinse should be with RO water. dump in tank and repeat. :) It's a long tedious task unfortunately.

I just do the fill 1/2 and turn water on semi low. Just put the hose in the bottom and as it overflows and your stirring the bucket it will continue to raise the "cloud" out.

My first hard plumb job. Unfortunately, took my return pump out of the box and found a crack in it. Hopefully I get that sorted out tomorrow.
