I swear 5 mins before the feeder goes off all my fish are waiting in the corner where the feeder is located. I was thinking of taking the clock off the wall and see if they will know when the feeder goes off.
It's called a circadian rhythm. The vast majority of fish have it(of course there are exceptions). Yes they know the "time" of their day. Ex: sunrise/sunset, feedings, etc.
My fish swim to the top whenever i walk by... They swim to the glass when my baby is near, and they hide when they see my sister in law..
I think they recognize faces too!!

What if I feed at random times throughout each day... Is this bad? Am I screwing with their circadian rhythm? Should I break out the automatic pellet feeder??? I'm just not a scheduley kind of person... Life's too crazy!
I think they really do know who is who my tank is in my bedroom and when ever anyone except me walks by the all hide, but my sixline goes to its sleeping spot about 5 min before my lights go off.
I feed my fish at random times too. I don't worry about it too much because I figure in the ocean they eat what is available when they can and do not have set schedules.
