Yep, they actually hatched tonight, here is what I siphoned up with the airtube from the nest. There were a few that didn't look ready to go, still in egg form. I have 3 swimming and a bunch kinda grouped up on the bottom (expecting those to die soon). WP_20141107_22_54_33_Pro.jpg

Congrats! That's awesome. What type of clowns?

Not sure on a store for the rotifers, call tongs. They are a larger store and stock some live feeders.

I turned off the lights and waited about 1 hour, I could see one hatch and get swept away by the flow of the return pump. I had turned off all the internal powerheads. I decided to use the airhose and suck the eggs off the shell they were on. worked out well, several still alive this morning.

I have a 3 gallon container, if they survive the next 2 days I'll move them into something larger. I have a 30 gallon tank I might use.

From all my reading they turn silver the day they are going to hatch and in my case you could even see the eyes. They are supposed to hatch 7-10 days, depends partially on water temp, the higher the temp the faster, but if they hatch too fast they are not fully developed, if they take too long they don't have enough yoke to survive long enough to hunt. Hard to find a lot of detailed instructions out there... kinda pieces here and there.

So here is where I'm at, looks like at least 6 are still alive, hard to tell because I put a piece of live rock in the small container I had yesterday to give them a place to seek shelter. I'm going to setup my extra tank, a 30, according to what I read, i.e. blacked out on the sides and white bottom. My reading didn't mention anything about live rock, but I'm going to put a few pieces in there to help deal with what I hear are the real killer, ammonia spikes from die off of fry and food. I'm going to keep a bare bottom, add a heater and two airstones for water movement/o2. Looks like a normal incandeant blub is fine for lighting.

I'm still trying to get rotifiers or copepods if anyone knows of a source with live right now. I hatched baby brine, but from what I am reading they fry are not big enough for them until day 4+.

Anything else I am missing other than this is a very expensive way to get clownfish?

Got some rotifiers today from Will, thanks, and fed the fish. I have at least 6 that I see and 4 of them are eating strong.

So today's update, i see 3 swimming fry, you can see they are actively feeding now and they have probably doubled in size over the last 4 days. There are a 2 dead ones in another container I was using to compare their size. Of the 3, 2 are swimming strong and you can see them chase the rotis and copapods I have in the tank right now. Going to start cooking up some baby brine shrimp tonight and transition them over the next day or two. They are just black little fish right now, according to what I read they won't start to show until something called the metamorphosis phase after day 13/14. I'm curious what they will look like considering one parent is black/white and one is orange/white.

Thinking about doing a small water change tonight, but I can see the roti and copapods and don't know if that will screw things up. Going to add more live rock to the tank as well, right now the parameters are great, but with all the food in the tank I"m concerned it could go south quick.

The parents cleaned off their nesting spot last night and the female looks huge with eggs (or she got into my ding dong stash!) so now I may have the dilemma of how to handle two batches.

This has been an interesting experience.
