Coral slime in eye

Fraggin a leather of dying skin the brown stuff. Was investing a part of it, flicked some matter of the leather in my eye. SMDH honestly 1 in a million chance.

So my general question here is, is their toxin a nasty one? Has anyone got this stuff in their eye? Ive heard horry stories on Palytoxin in eyes etc. Just curious if im going to have get ready for nasty reactions from this. Google isnt giving me much knowledge on this.

The eye is scary. I’m guessing you held you eye open( with clean hands) and ran cool water through it for 5 minutes? If not start there. Prepare for pinkeye probably


how is your vision. Any major irritations so far?

I had a scare a few months ago. I was removing huge amounts of GHA while siphoning my tank and plucking the algae with hemostats to avoid spreading it. Well the bucket filled up quicker than I thought and I lost siphon when I swapped buckets. My dumbass suck started the thing. Got a decent mouthful and spit it in the bucket. Kept working and did my best not to swallow 😝

well as I’m working my mouth starts tingling pretty good. Almost like I burnt it or ate some hot sauce. Started salivating but, hey what’s done is done keep working and spitting in the bucket, right?!

I I finish up amd start dumping my buckets. The GHA was so thick I had forgotten that at one point that rock had been covered in purple death palys. Also there were quite a few aiptasia all in the bucket I had just dumped! My mouth felt like shit for a while and I was tripping that night trying to sleep having googled paly toxin symptoms.

in the end I was fine and my mouth was good about 24 hours later. It was a scare and I had a hand pump water change kit in my cart the next morning.
I’d bet you’d be fine but toxins aside the bacteria can be a major issue on its own so keep it clean and if you get any pain or vision issues straight to the ER I’d say.

Ooooh dang yeah thats crazy lol i would of been freaking out for sure hahah no lie. I hate messing with palys.

Yeah i assume the leather toxin would be a risk at a moderate via ingestion possible. I juat cant find anything on getting in your eye. No issues as no now, just irritated from flushing it. Id assume within a few hours id know if i was gonna have serious issues.

Yeah im kinda expecting a bacterial infection in my lol i might even call my doc tomorrow morning and get drops just in case.

Rinse your eye in the sink, or maybe some eye wash. Then have a beer.

but just keep you eyes on a constant washes. And don’t scare you. And stress

Yeah seems fine no infection after a few days
