Vivid's a respectable place but everyone makes mistakes (if it was a mistake which Kyle brought some great info). When I first got into this hobby I went over to vivid and wanted to buy a tang. I saw a cool grey looking tang and the guy couldn't ID it but said its from Africa therefore is called an african tang and costs $60 because it was from Africa. Bought it and a few months later ID'd at as a common striatus tang (bristletooth) which typically sells for a lot less. I still felt it was worth the money cuz it was super healthy and I liked the fish but unless I'm wrong, this fish wasn't from Africa and wasn't called an African tang. (BTW the employee had to ask another employee what it was and the other employee didn't bother to physically see it in the tank to verify). Remember this, employees and owners are very knowledgable but ultimately are hobbyists and not marine biologists so mistaken IDs can def happen because all they have to go by is visual characteristics.

Great way to put it. We all make mistakes. IMO you shouldn't always 100% believe in what your LFS says is true, it's up to you to know what you're buying.
