I really have to admit, after loosing all hopes, that an aiptasia eating file fish and some blue life aiptasia rx completely ended my losing battle. I was ready to break down my tank and start over. I got the file fish and never really saw it eat any aiptasia until one day they were ALL gone. I did use rx on some of the heavy spots to try and slow it down, but even the big ones in the back are all gone now and seriously I had hundreds if not thousands.

If youre really having problems with them like I was you should really try this combo.

Cool glad that worked for you, but those fish will eat corals. I've had friends have them eat zoas etc. I wouldn't try it I have a tank full of them.

I have heard the same thing. Once the aptasia is gone its ZOA time. Glad KT worked for you but keep an eye out. Aphasia can be a real pain

Now that they are all gone, u need to stay on top of it. If u see one, quickly kill it with some sort of Aptasia killer. That's what i do, and I have yet to have an outbreak. Since ur tank was so infested, u will most likely keep getting more and more. Just don't let it get out of control again

Iv'e tried aptasia x, and its hit and miss at best. Here is what I use for aptasia and mango's...I am currently clean of all pests :)

Roebic Crystal Drain Opener,
mix 1/2 teaspoon in plastic cup, add water just to cover, swish around... ( do it outside for fumes, and it does get a little warm ) use syringe ( one that comes with aptasia X works great ) Squeeze just enough to cover pest about 1" away. Turn off
power heads for about 15 min.

use no more then 2 syringes full per day, to be on the safe side.

Kills them dead ! no ill effects.....

You use drain cleaner in your tank!? That sounds sketchy at best but if it works it work. As for for the corals, its mostly a Fowlr except for some mushrooms. If the monster puffers havent eaten them yet the file will be fine.

I also have tried Aiptasia X in the past and had no real luck. The blue life one really worked well. They reached out to grab floating chunks and you saw them melting within a min.

Ive always added a couple peppermint shrimp (not camel shrimp) to my set up if I see Aiptasia taking a foothold.. The shrimp are cheap and readily available , they will rid your entire tank of every last Aiptasia....They are a much safer and consistent alternative. Iv utilized them on many occasions and they always do a great job...ES

The nudibranchs are the most effective but it is sad that they are super dead after they eat all of the aiptasia in your tank.

Yes it works! I also use it to kill unwanted zoa's Sounds crazy I know, there is a large thread on RC that goes into detail.

I wish I had your luck with peps. The two I have came from a buddies tank that ate all his aiptasia. They are in my tank now and for over a month and haven't touched jack lol!

..Peps will eat Aiptasia....thats a fact..Might take them a little while to get up to speed....Peps can be shy and will definitely not live up to their potential if they have to compete with an active nocturnal species that is in competition with them...Peps do their best work at night, they are nocturnal...(So Iv personally never witnessed the wrasse problem)...In my experience they start with the small ones fist and will eventually take out the larger Aiptasia...Its just another option we have...didn't mean to rile anybody...ES
