So I have a 30 gallon with a Ecosytems mud refugium/sump and ive been doseing liquid reef from brightwell aquatics, my tank has lots of corals so im guessing the minerals are absorbed pretty fast but since this has 140,000 ppm of calcium do i need to dose any alkalinity boosters like how "A and B" dose systems work?

wow thats high! are you sure on that reading? Double check it. If you get the same read and your test kit is not expired, just get your Alk. to where you want/ it needs to be and stop dosing calcium until your levels level off. and yeah dont forget about MG too.

Oh, you can boost your alk with baked baking soda OR any DKH buffer. Best thing for me was to buy the 2 part dosing kit from BRS. If you are going to raise your Alk, do it slowly (no more than 2 points per day, one point would be ideal) Always know where your levels are and keep a log if possible.

got cha! ok yeah, That's cool. I've nerve really dealt with that stuff. I dose calcium, Alk, and mag individually. Those are the most important. I also dose VSV (vodka, sugar, vinegar), aspartic acid (amino acid), and Kent's essential trace elements to make up for lack of water changes. It's been working for me. If your doing regular water changes, depending on the salt you're using, that might be enough.

Bulkreefsupply.com thats all you need and it even has a calculator so you can get to the level you need.

I would recommend the bubble magus doser it has 3 pumps.

I have a 225g my calcium consumption is at 175ml a day. I have it dose 12 times a day and it does the math for you. I also have it dose the soda ask for alk at 70ml per day, and magnesium at 20 ml per day. I add 2tsp per gallon of Kalk to each gallon of RODI, in my top off. That's all.

The tester said my KH was 6.1 dKH isnt that horribly low?
What test are You using? I recommend the Salifert even though they test about 8-10% high. But they are so super easy to use.

6.1 is not instant death if you have it stable between that and 7.5 NSW levels. But from what I gather an all the long sexy reef talks I have with other reef dweebs you wanna stick your alk between 8.5-9.5 clOser to exactly 9 if you can.

People claim that Sps like it at 9 in our glass cages. This is all hear say of course. But I see good growth and color in this range. I'm at 9.2 currently but I fluctuate between 8.0-9.7. I buffer my WC water to 9.5-10. Since I always have a dip in AlK the day of a WC, for some reason.
