cool tank bro.

Dont take this in a negative way please. Just friendly advice:
Ditch the bio balls asap! also for a 40 gl tank you may want to get at least 80lbs of Live rock to help with biological filtration. If you can get your hands on a Protein skimmer that would be a plus because sharks produce a lot of waste. Also Sharks get HUGE and a 40 gallon tank is only going to house a shark for a few months tops.

Detane...you know I was thinking the same thing when I read the name of the thread but its only going to be a reef tank see, the title is just giving the name of who's reef tank it is... ie. DETANE'S REEF TANK as I would post HTORRES727'S REEF TANK. He's not stating that its going to be a tank to house a shark. However thumbs up on the bio ball if your'e going to do strictly reef (which the title of the thread self explains) and yeah get a skimmer either way

Thumbs down on bio-balls. You would be better of filtering using LR as Detane said. If you use the LR method you are going to see better results as bio balls usually contain about 1/4 of the bacteria that LR can contain... Also, you get all the other goodies that LR has to offer, such as different types of crabs and worms and stuff that eat detritus. I believe that bio balls have no place in any aquarium. If they aren't on the real reef, they don't belong in ours!
