I recently just purchased a beast of 3/4" thick 60x32x24 acrylic tank this last weekend as an upgrade for my current glass tank. As some of you may have seen the for sale thread for this tank on a different section on this forum... As It turned out, I didn't inspect the tank carefully enough nor was I told about the damaged seams and that the tank doesn't hold water. I bought it thinking that it's brand new and acrylic it'll be fine (also didn't help that the seller wrapped the corners in shrink wrap so I the damaged seam wasn't immediately visible, while their for sale photos didn't have the shrink wrap.) When I got home I took the shrink wrap off and found that one of the seams was not even thoroughly bonded between two panels of acrylic all the way down to the bottom making this tank guaranteed to leak or have a catastrophic blowout in the future. I was duked a good amount of cash thinking all I got out of it was some nice bulkheads.
So today I just took the tank down to Advanced Acrylics to have professional look at the tank and to do the repairs necessary to make this tank hold water like it's supposed to. Good news is that it's fixable! They will be adding a brace to outside and inside of the corner seam, adding support to the external overflow and overflow teeth as well as adding a lid to the overflow box all for a great price; making the tank well worth the price I got the leaky tank for plus the repair cost!
So here's some before pictures of the tank showing the damaged seam and corners... I"ll be updating this post with some after repair photos once I get this awesome tank back and ready to fill!!!
