Yeah, that's the truth. Just to put it into perspective, 30 dB is about as loud as a whisper.

I helped out with this test and I can tell you that the new QD is very quiet! If you currently have a VorTech and the noise bothers you then I am sure you'll be happy with the upgrade.

If you set your old VorTech at 20-30% I think this is about what the QuietDrive will sound like at 90-100%.

Hey Aaron, do you think this new pump is powerful enough to be a wavemaker in my main reef display? I was thinking I could hide it behind some live Rock.

I don't have much experience with using the VorTech for a wave. My experience with tanks similar in shape to yours is that it takes more flow to generate the wave. I would imagine (2) MP60s on the back of your tank would work. You also wouldn't need to really hide them since they would blend in week with the black background.
