Hello everyone,

I bought mp40 w es couples years back at reefalapoolza at the ecotech booth. It was working great and now it went dead. I get green and red flashing lights and the pump doesn't spin at all. So, I called ecotech and the representative was very short with me saying I needed a new dry side. He said I needed to pay like 200-250 for new like that is so simple to do. Okay let me pull out 200 out of my A## and give that to you. So, I was frustrated and said if this is how you represent ecotech that it is not a great way to brand the company. So, he then offered another solution to mail the pump to them on my dime. I was like what kind of company is this. I would expect that from a mom and pop store but not ecotech? I asked to speak to a supervisor twice and he wouldn't transfer me and keep saying the supervisor will say the same thing. So I wanted to know if anyone have dealt with ecotech customer service and how was your experience? Because from what I know of this company, they are well represented and wanted to see if this was a one off situation.

Lastly, I was wondering if anyone had the same issue as me with flashing green and red lights without pump spinnning and what did you do to fix the problem, whether it was thru ecotech or just doing it yourself?

Had this same issue with my pump about a month or two ago. I took apart the wet side and found everything was spinning fine. Sometimes it will get too hot and the pin that runs through the wet side will fuse to the back plate. This is causes from misalignment. There is a small white ring that goes on the back of the large plastic housing, this was binding up and causing it to not spin freely. I sanded down the plate to get rid of any wear caused by the ring and tightened everything back up and so far have had no problems since. Took me a while to figure it out but all is good right now.

Dealt with them in the past on a recall for the wires that connect the battery backup to the controller. I was hoping to get the level of service some people praised them for. Completely wrong because they (at least the guy I talked to) came off as a condescending dbag. Worst ever.

I have two mp-10's. I really like the pumps design and functions. I like how only the propellers are in the water, and heat transfer is minimal.

I hate how I have had to replace both wetsides and one dryside in a about 1 year(bought used). When I bought a dryside from their webstore I had to follow up on my order because I didnt get any confirmation or shipping dates. Turns out they "missed" my order. But I will continue to use Ecotech products because they work great.

Side note: I had a Diablo pump go out and CoralVue exchanged it no hassles once I get them my invoice. I didnt even have to ship them the broken one.

I had the same issue and had to replace the wet side what felt like prematurely. Them I sold the MP and went with TUnze. It's larger but it's MUCH quieter and I have not had 1 issue. Go tunze and never look back =]

And sorry this happened to you Bon! Hope it all works out for you. If you need a power head to get by let me know I have some spares

Wow, that really sucks. We pay a ridiculuous amount for a product and get a service like it is worth only couple of bucks.

I think they should prorate it and make you pay the difference bc the dryside is close to 50% of the new pump. Just not right for a company who prides and say their pumps are the best. For I will pay top dollars but expect top proformance which includes durability.

Thanks for the offer but I have some hydor pumps for now. After I fix this pump, I am switching to Tunzee. I heard a story where a reefer had a tunze for 10 years and tunze couldn't fix it so they charged him only for the cost of what tunze paid for. Now that is a product I will pay top money for the premium service.

Why would you expect them to pay shipping if your pump is years out of warranty? While it sucks that the rep was "short" with you, what more do you want from the company if your pump is out of warranty? I don't mean to stir the pot, it's just an honest question...

I had the same issue and ecotech send me a replacement for the driver not the dry side. Did the controller/driver have any water damage? I think that was the issue with mine. If you have another mp40 swap them out then you'll only need the driver which is a lot cheaper. My pumps were still under warranty tho. Hope this helps... BTW MOST companies after the warranty expires don't help you much so you shouldn't be surprised. Like a PC/TV/HardDrive same thing...

Funny seems like they make a lot of money selling peeps new dry/wetsides every year or two. Sure is a costly product for something that seems to always fail and have issues.

I bought a used one for 375$ and it was noisy as hell, i ended up having to send it in to get checked out, they told me the dry side was 7 years old (who ever sold it around did some shady ****), long story short a refurb dry cost me 95$ shipped back all said and done, i would send it in first even though you gotta eat the shipping.

These guys have another about 12 yrs left on their patent for the MP pumps. Better milk as many dry side as possible before the comrades from China take them out with Jebao Cordless WP version 1.0 for $29.99. You would think this hobby would be more affordable with all the technological advancements but it seems like stuff getting more expensive now. Then again $1,000 skimmer must be better than $100 skimmer. That's 10x more "poopoo power" right there.

Don't buy the Lambroghini if you can't afford to maintain it.
I hear a bunch of crying in this thread. Really makes me sick that everyone wants a perfect world. Welcome to the real world and good luck when things get real.
Peace out Bitches !!!
