Flooded my 24g jbj nano cube tonight. I bought this tank off CL last year and was just waiting for the right time. Stopped at my LFS on the way home tonight and picked up saltwater, 18lb live rock and bag of sand. Looks like I can use more Rock. This tank has power compact lights so I know I'm limited on coral I can keep. My plan is to focus on sexy shrimp and other inverts. I'll document my progress in this thread.

Great start! I think you have enough rock. I put more rocks in my tank only to take them all out + a couple originally in my tank. Take your time and upgrade those lights! Maxi Mini + Sexy shrimp ftw

Made my first mistake. Didn't check the temp setting in the heater I took out of storage and woke up to 90 degree water. Unplugged the heater and left the lid open.

Since the lid is in good shape and it come with new light bulbs I thought I'd run it for 6 months then evaluate removing lid and adding new lighting.

If its still cycling leave it at 90 and the cycle will be faster. Just gradually lower it when it's done cycling

Patience is key. My first tank was a JBJ 28gal Nano, and with this tank I had to learn the hard way that AIO does not make things easier. But once i did, i loved it.

I'm 3 weeks into the cycle and nitrates are starting to fall. I'm seeing bits if life on the live rock. I've seen two snails cruise the glass. I had a bristle worm in the beginning but think the cycling killed him. I had a nem show up. Is this an aiptasia?

What is this red thing?

Is this red spot a type of algae?

Is this green bubble another algae?

Thanks

I suggest getting those nuisance in control or get better pest free live rock or else it will haunt you forever if you don't get them in control.

Last one is green bubble algae. Don't pop or it'll spread. During your next water change syphon over the bubble while you attempt to gently peel it off the rock, this way if you pop it by accident everything should get sucked out.
That first one does look like aiptasia. I used a berghia nudi brach. They'll eat the foot and all then die off once there is no food source left. 1 for a 24 would be fine.

The red patch does not look like red slime. I think it's another type of coraline algae but not sure. I had it throughout my tank in the beginning as well.

Love the nanocube. Miss mine at times.

Added a gsp rock, green polyp, clove coral, moved a few rocks and the macro around. Also put back the original outflow. I think the hydor reduced it to much.
