When I was at The Mystic Reef yesterday while picking up some Fighting Conch's, I decided to pick up a 1" Emerald Crab to add to my clean up crew.
They are suppose to be one of the more " reef safe ". I decided to go with just one. I have 170 gal to keep him busy. I know when they get bigger they might become a problem. That is why I decided to go with just one.

Any body have any experience with one ? Good ? Bad ? :decision:

Thanks !

I've had an awesome experience with my emerald crab.

About 6 months ago I had a massive bubble algae infestation...probably well over a thousand bubbles. I added an emerald crab and within 2 months every single bubble was gone. Since then he has been fine with exception to my toadstool which I find him nipping every once in a while.

Soon enough here I'm going to find him a new home since my tank is only 34g.

Yeah exactly...I was trying manual removal but that just wasn't feasible. Good luck I'm sure it will take care of the BA.

that stupid crab was eating all my snails. I had to get rid of it so I put it in the sump. Month later during a water change I was cleaning the sump and it was dead in between the baffles. Stupid CRAB killed all but one snail.

Put two in my tank last week and haven't seen them since. And the bubble algae I bought them for is still there. Not happy...so far.

I'm not feeding them specifically so they better get to grazing soon. Or else I've got a feeding tool with a sharp tip. Might have to go spear 'em if they turn out defective...

I had a BA outbreak on my 190 & added 3 EC about a month ago. As soon as I dropped them in they went to work picking at algae of the rocks & BA. I like to buy mine small & let them grow, I've had EC in other systems full of corals & never had a problem with them picking at them.
