Been a while since I've had a tank set up and this time around I'm a little bit more into the details. I have a 75g set up with a euro fil 180 and quiet one 3000 pump. I currently have 2 wavemakers that total 1300 gph. I was considering adding another 800 but thinking it might be overkill for a fowlr. The euro fil was gifted to me after I had set my tank up only to have my sump that was stored in the garage for 8 years start leaking on me. Problem is there is no lid or plumbing on the euro fil so I'm using my old lid that covers only about half the width of the sump. The water falls straight down onto bio balls which I put in to disperse the water at least a little. Cant seem to find any website selling just parts for that sump. May have to just buy a new one. Any Ideas? Also running an ASM skimmer that doesnt seem to have much skimmate although its only been running a few weeks. (break in period)

I would swap the bio balls out for a filter sock instead if you can. Those are just going to trap detritus. Pics would help.

I think your fine on flow if its just a fowlr. More wouldn't hurt though.

Agree with sock over bio balls and can mod the asm skimmer

Agree with everyone else. I'd even say the sock is optional. You can always run carbon to help polish the water. If anything, maybe start dosing bacteria in a bottle after you remove the bioballs to help prevent an ammonia spike
