Both fish had an adverse reaction to V20 "soft freeze" foods. The melanurus has recovered, the Flasher may be blind for life. Both are free, I would gladly accept an SPS frag.

Both fish became very stressed due to the obvious events, and will absolutely need a QT process.

The Melanurus: eats like a pig, but hasn't taken many pellets, but she will usually try them. She's fine, but she needs a bigger home, it was always my intent to re-house her.

The Scarlet Flasher: Is straight up blind. Because he's blind, he can easily live his life out in a small Nano tank with gentle flow and a cave to lay in. he has become a bottom dweller for obvious reasons. He will perk up when he smells food, but either needs to be fed directly, or housed with fish that will not compete with him. I love the little guy but I can't setup a tank just for him, my family would not be cool with that. He could probably be happy with a cleaner goby pair. Because he doesn't swim much anymore, his metabolism has slowed and he doesn't each much, nor make much waste. He's be good in a softie/Zoo desktop aquarium probably 5+ gallons (Sounds small, but he's blind and doesn't move much).

Does it say 'not for wrasses' on the current packaging? Sounds like a great way for this company to go out of business.

I talked with him at length and he spoke with me at RAP. He told me "about 1 out of 1000 people experience this, you're the 4th report I've received", he then told me "Were stopping production of this item until we figure out what the issue is. The only thing we can think is that some of the alcohols we use to prevent the food from freezing The symptoms are always the same".

Either way. The Melanurus is good, she's really stressed though and probably sick or getting sick. And the Flasher is looking worse today.. He's still kicking and I feel like **** flushing a live fish :( so I'm hoping someone can give him the environment he needs.
janiners305 Yeah I spoke with him at length, and he pulled me into conversation with his Biologist as well. At Rap he gave me their new pellet / flake food. What irked me is he told me over, and over, and over again "This has NEVER happened before!", only to tell me in person "This has happened 1:1000 jars, always the same symptoms".

Oh wow I'll keep to making my own food. At least then I know what's in it. Good luck on the wrasses I would take them but my other fish will kill them for sure.

Did you work the door at RAP Sunday morning Spark? I think you were assorting reef nutrition bags while I was clicking/stamping people

Well the Melanurus is almost completely better. She still moves a little funky, but it's only noticeable if you know what to look for. The Flasher is pretty messed up though.. He's starting to lose a few scales, and I'm pretty sure the stress alone will make him very susceptible to some form of illness. It's sad, because their normal food is top notch, but the Soft Freeze has alcohols in it to prevent it from freezing, so fish ingest these alcohols.

I mean, things happen.. If the food were tainted, or spoiled, or if I was told right away "this has happened before". But he denied it happened before until the last minute, and only in person he tells me "Oh you're the 4th person whose had this happen. Always the same exact symptoms. About 1:1000 experience this", when literally the day before in text messages he was saying "NEVER in the history of 30 years of this company (Ocean nutrition = V20 Foods) has anything like this ever happened".

V20 "soft freeze" foods
I think I will take a permanent pass on this brand.
I 2nd the vote pass on this brand!

I have six wrasse and it affected four of them. Here's my poor blue flasher wrasse after eating v20 soft freeze
Before eating v20
The fish survived but does not act or look the same. I fed the fish food over seven months ago and the flasher is all marbled color to this day. I should snap another picture, he looks awful. I tried every supplement available to try and get him healthy with no luck.
Pass on this crap

What's going on with this brand? I wonder if it has anything to do with 2 clowns , 1 yellow tang, dying . I feed them these too and my parameters were normal. Can't be a parasite cuz my hawkfish and other inhabitants are still here
