I will be selling tisbe copepods and blue ochtodes at the Marine Aquarium Expo on April 6-7. I will not have a booth, I'll just be walking around looking at things. But if anyone is interested in buying them now and picking them up then, PM me and I will exchange PayPal information. If you want them shipped to you, I can also do that. If you don't trust me, PM me and we can meet at MAX to exchange money and product, but I can not guarantee they will still be available. First come, first serve basis.

Tisbe Copepods, 8 oz bottle, $15 cash/paypal. $5 extra for shipping.

Blue Ochtodes, 2 inch diameter clump, $15 cash/paypal. $5 extra for shipping.

May be accepting credit card at MAX, have a meeting with the bank today. Will update later.

Caution: Coloration of blue ochtodes depends on your light. There are many light fixtures at MAX, so find one similar to yours, and I can hold it under the light to see if you like the coloration. I have mine under no light (yes, still thrives, NOT the picture shown) and it is an almost black blue/violet color. Under blue lights, it turns this magnificent blue/purple (as noted in mother colony picture). Normal lights show off its purple. It WILL change color under exponential growth. Mine turned a purple, maroon, light green when it was growing x10. Color change will only happen if your clump is doubling in size every three days like mine. It will return to normal color if you take the lights away.

:a12:Thank you for looking:a15:

Would the Ochtodes be suitable to grown in a seahorse disply tank? Never had any.. is clumpy, or will it grow upwards for the horses to hitch on? thanks :)

It is like red gracilarius, except with a blue/purple color. It has thick branches, about a 1/4 inch thick. It is clumpy, growing outwards like a bush. It likes to attach to substrate and rock. Once you get it growing, it doesn't like to fall apart. Takes a lot of shaking and pulling to break off a branch. Your seahorses will love the texture, but unless you can get it to grow large, they might not hitch on it. If you have dwarf seahorses they'll love it. Regular size seahorses, it will take some time for it to grow.

I'll take blue ochtode are you available saturday morning?
I will be available. We can meet at New Wave Tropical Fish store @ 1960 N Tustin Ave Orange Ca 92865. I will PM you my phone number. We can meet @ 11:15 am when they open.

How many Copepods are in an 8 oz container?
Honestly, I don't know. I don't have the patience to count out a square and do the math. But you are welcome to look at a bottle at MAX, shake it around, look at it under lights. They are hardy SOB and don't mind being tossed around. I keep them without a heater and still thrive with fluctuating temperatures. Estimation: definitely more than 100 consisting of all life stages.

Basicly, I'm not selling you a bag of phytoplankton like all the big boy companies do. I'm selling you a clear bottle with food settled on the bottom so you can see the tisbe copepods scurrying around on the sides of the container. Perfect size to toss right into the aquarium or start your own tisbe culture. Seriously considering getting dragon face pipefish since I have such a high output of copepods.

Will do.

Are you available tomorrow morning? I'm interested in one of each.
I am not able to meet up tomorrow morning. I'm actually in Yorba Linda right now and my stock is in Mission Viejo. I'm picking it up friday night, so I can meet up anytime Sat & Sunday, or after 5pm Monday-Friday. Are you available Saturday morning? So I can do one full sweep.

I really want to keep the dragonet goby. To do this I need to have pods in the display tank, not the sump. If the pods are in the sump, they will get kill by the return pump entering the display tank. The pods dumping in the tank due to high flow end up to the overflow. All the pods I bought ended up in the sock that I have at the end of the drain hose. Unless I have a fuge, I don't see how I can grow pods in my display tank. Since my tank was not build to have a fuge hang on the back, I have to give up the idea of having a dragonet. Am I wrong about this?

Thank you

Two copepod bottles? Or blue ochtodes?

Hi I would like 2 bottles of the copepods! I will be there sunday. How can I contact/ID you? I can bring cash.
Barbara
Sunday at MAX? I will PM you my phone number. Text me the day before MAX to tell me you are still interested, and the day of MAX. Once I get there I will call/text you to meet up.

Have you had any problems with the blue ochtodes. Just curious if it is anything like a calurpa.
No problems. It grows like crazy because I put it in an isolated system specifically for quickly growing it. The mother colony just sits in its tank and looks pretty. Not destructive or anything.

If you want to keep the copepods in the display tank, treat the display like you are fry proofing it. Lower the flow of the return pump, place a filter/mesh and sponge over the overflow. Tisbe copepods do not stay in the water column often, and prefer to stick to the glass/substrate/rock.

Have you thought about removing the sump all together? Just display tank in order to keep high flow.

Have you tried frozen food training? Starting with live brine shrimp delivered from a pipet, and mixing in frozen food over time until you are only feeding frozen food through a pipet.
