lol i know the blue life stuff works. i used it many time before. i take the easy aggressive route. i have taken the gfo (brs) off line since i to lazy to replace it. once i get my level to 0 ill probably buy a bucket of rowaphos and use that.
Rowaphos in a reactor or passively in a sock?

And for others, are you just throwing the sock in a high flow area in the sump or are you placing the entire bag in a reactor. I was considering both options, but the sock and dropping it in the sump would be less work.

I'm having to change my GFO every 2-3 days.... Not sure how I am creating so much p04 when I have cut back feeding to every other day now.

I don't see how people put the media bag int he sock, wouldn't the water flow pound the GFO to powder?

You mean the rowaphos? My thought here that a reactor would just be more efficient allowing more water flow over the media. A sock would still work...

But for the Ultramax or Clear FX, maybe placing the bag in a reactor wouldn't be too much extra work and might be the better way to go.

But wouldn't the water still grind up the media making your tank cloudy?

i would put rowaphos it in a reactor. the media bag is place by the output of my skimmer. ido if that the right way..but from what i recall at the meeting she was saying put after the sock in a less flow area.

I just put the aquamaxx in the bag in the first chamber of my sump right before the water goes into second chamber(fuge)
I'm hoping this stuff works well cause I don't wanna run gfo reactor...

Also I'm not going to dose or add any other chemicals to help lower phosphate... I'm only going to use this bag and do 1 water change(5gallons) on Friday
I want to give the best review of this stuff

John you might have heard her wrong, my understanding from that talk is the media should be placed just before your return pump, so after your fuge and skimmer to maximize its efficiency.

I think all those GFO media reduce in size overtime, so I'm still not sure what you mean. Whether in a reactor or sock, water is still running through it... but in a reactor they are colliding where as in a sock they aren't as much.

True but if you pound them with water in a sock on your drain pipe I can't imagine them not breaking apart faster. I have not done this but I am just picturing what happens when I rub the bag when you rinse.

Which is probably another reason not to place it in that location... it goes right before you return pump, say between the baffles or just before them.

WOops I'm confusing the products now but I think the same concept would apply.
