Glenn's "new" 150xh thread

I'm in the process of starting a new reef tank. the dimensions of my (new to me) tank are 48x24x30. i scored it from a seller on CL. i drilled it myself and made my own overflows out of 6" abs pipe that i sectioned in half and butted them in the corner at 45*. i then siliconed the overflows in with 100% silicone.
I made my own custom stand also. i made it from 2x6s and 2x4s. the outer fascia is just that. a fascia. i plan to plumb the refugium outside in the garage along with all my lighting ballasts, pumps and chiller.

my next endeavor is plumbing. any advice on overflows? both drains are 1". i am planning on a dual durso setup teeing to 2" pvc ending into my sump. any ideas on a better setup of plumbing? how should i plumb my return pump? i dont want to have excessive head pressure.

well i went and plumbed it all myself without any advice from anyone.. haha.
anyway. its all complete and up and running. i'm very excited about it.

I just bought same demension new 2 me tank & was intrested in plumbing as I'm not sure which route 2 go.
tank came with 2 holes drilled in back upper wall as returns 2"
with a 1" return hose just drapped over top of diplay.
was gonna go that route do 2 easyness. What would you do with it?

What livestock do you plan on having? I recently saw a durso alternative: instead of having 180 degrees of turning back there is just slits as if it were another overflow (completely submersed) AND it has the end cap top with a hole in it above the surface...it took up significantly less room in the overflow and it was SILENT...that was via LarryM "Waves in Glass" from Oceanside...nice build!

I just used a piece of 6" abs pipe cut in half long ways. i cut overflow teeth in it and siliconed it to the back 2 corners at a 45* angle to give some room in the overflow. it has 2 dursos in them it drains to a 2" 90* to a 2" piece of pvc then to a 2" T then through the wall into my garage to a 55gal refugium. through the refugium to my return pumps. pump up to a hole in the wall above the display where it exits via my DIY seaswirly things. one exits through a real 3/4" seaswirl. all seems good but the dursos arent that great. theyre silent just flucuating alot....:brick:

im sure edison would love me more if i plugged one more thoing in! electric bill is tough but you gotta pay to play so i never leave home....
