Well thanks to Emac909 talking about getting aefw, I decided to check my tank and take a closer look at my acros. They were hard to find, but I noticed the bite marks on 4 pieces. I squirted them and nothing came out. I then took out the worst piece and noticed eggs so for sure I had something. Ended up taking out and dipping the pieces and found 5 visable size aefw . Sucks, but everything else looks good and it wasn't a lot. I think I caught the infestation at the start.

I'm guessing I got the aids recently since I have macro shots of some of the affected coral that doesn't show any signs like 2 weeks back.

If you traded with me recently, sorry, and I hope you dipped.

Dang that sucks man. One thing I learned when dealing with AEFW, is its ALWAYS worse then it seems. U don't wanna know how many times I said "ahhh I think I finally got rid of them" only to be wrong AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN....if u have any chance at beating them, U need to pull out every single acro and dip them. Bayer worked best for me. Remember eggs can live on the rocks at the base of the acro. So if an Acro is encrusting, cut the base off and scrape off any acro that's encrusted. Earlier in my long AEFW battle, I tried scraping the eggs off, but quickly learned it was easier to just toss any acros with eggs. If it was a nice piece, then I cut the biggest frag and threw away the base with the eggs.

Good luck man. :/

can't find your dipping info on your threads. I know bayer, what concentration and how often? I'm setting up the frag tank right now. Crappy thing is that I'm also treating fish, so now I have tanks everywhere

Also how long can they survive in the tank without sps? I read 5 days without sps but that seams really low

That sucks man. I'm in my 2nd month dealing with AEFW myself :( I took out and dipped what I could and the colonies that are heavily encrusted I just had to leave alone. Bayers works great but I'd like to get a visual confirmation of these suckers so I dipped in Revive or Lugol solution. I'm currently using Zeo Flatworm Stop along with Zeo K Strong solution daily..so far so good just hate the cyano outbreak that comes with using it.

Thanks for the help guys. Setting up the frag tank right now. Getting bayers later. Hopefully I can start cutting pieces off today.

Dont be shy with the bayer lol

I got AEFW a while back and to be honest i tossed 50% of all my corals as a precaution and even thought "i caught it early and i only found eggs in one spot in the process of checking/tossing everything. Only to find it again a month after that. I ended up tossing everything else i had except for a few pieces and moved them into another tank. From there I started the heavy heavy dipping. but never found anything else in qt. No eggs or worms were ever found once in qt. dipped for a couple months without finding anything and then placed them back in.

As nick advised, break everything off the rocks, just frag yourself fresh pieces. I would toss everything else.

I am battling this devil spawn right now. Hacked up all my colony's and have been dipping once a week, just finished up week 3. I didn't see any the last 2 dips but I planned on doing once a week for 2 months. Using bayer at a ratio of 10ml/1 cup tank water for 10 minutes and then rinsing 4 more times at 10 minutes or more.

How often should I dip? And how many months should I keep the qt going? I'll be doing some reading but if those that have battled aefw can share a few tips I would appreciate it. I'm still in denial that I'll lose pieces. I want 0% loss

What's a thread without pics
this is my new quarantine station next to the couch lol

frag tank on top for the sps and all my fish in the bottom. Got a bad case of ich and i wanted to end it before having to deal with it later. Both my clowns died last night in the qt, no meds, I'm thinking stress because i had a lot of flow and accidentally left the lights on.

At this point my tank is pretty much going to be polyps. Really sad. Should probably just quit but would rather learn from it

Guys remember that when you dip you want to shake the coral as much as you can during that time so that they fall off.
