It's sucks but unless the piece is really worth it to you I'd toss it. Qt any thing hard to get or super rare and toss the rest.

Sorry to hear, thanks for sharing your misfortune and warning to those you traded with! Shows your a stand up guy and understand that it's something you don't wish on your worst enemy. If corals are small, it can be managed and perhaps beaten. Lmk if you need any help.

Does this look like AEFW?

Took the pic back in September. This was the worse piece and the one I found eggs on. I threw it out immediately since it wasn't anything special.

Not sure since I just noticed it. I haven't added any acros in a while though. My best guess is from something in a club raffle
Just curious if there was a incident were you didn't dip a new addition or did AEFW survive the dip?

they usually don't survive a dip its the eggs that are tough and the dip doesn't penetrate the outer protective shell of the infested parasite eggs, same with zoa and monti nudis and acro nudis but with the bayer dip what is great I usually do not see a infestation again they usually go after what hasn't been dipped, I could be wrong but that what I noticed in our qt for corals

usually afew you will see a bunch of light round bite marks all over the coral not just in one spot from y experience you can google image afew damage to acropora and you will see what I mean gl with you battle with persitance and the communities help with info I feel you have a fighting chance

I dip everything in melafix. After reading the bottle again though I haven't been using it full strength. I also don't squirt them, maybe a shake. I noticed that I really have to squirt them to get them off

I honestly would stick with Bayer. I've used a couple of different dips, and nothing worked like Bayer did. I would literally pour Bayer in with out measuring. As long as the water is super cloudy, and U can't see the coral, then U know its strong enough. Hahah. Like Steve said, U wanna shake, spin, twirl the coral as hard as u can in the dip. Just placing the acro in the dip isn't enough. When I was using Revive, it was super stressful on the acros, and I lost a few pieces. After switching to Bayer I never lost one acro. The pic U posted looks like tissue is missing. Could be from an worm bite, or something else. They usually leave tracks, little bite marks going up and down the corals. If u have eggs and worms big enough to see, then U are probably infested. Remember AEFW are very hard to see. They blend in to the acro they are eating. Green acro = green worm. Blue acro = blue worm.

This is a great example of AEFW bite marks. When I was heavily invested, this is what my acros looked like

In case u were wondering how big they are

If u have big ones U can see, imagine how many little worms are there that U can't see.

I was dipping twice a week by the way. I also kept acros out of my display for months before I added any new ones.

That is legit advice. Bayer works for me, and I think its easier on the coral. Just add until it's milky. It will seem like a lot.

This guy has had success doing a full tank treatment http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2464227%3Cbr%20/%3E%3Cbr%20/%3EH Be aware that it is very hard on your tank though. I would try it as a prevntative measure but, its seems it could kill off all fish and micro/macro fauna.

I saw that. Think I'll stick to the bayer. Only 3 pieces have noticeable marks, I'm sure I'll find more when I take everything out. If all my acros looked like the pic Nick posted I'd be more worried. I'm hoping for the best at this point

Fyi, be more concerned with eggs and less concerned with bite marks.

This hard part is admitting you have it. most people don't want to admit that.

from the views that this thread has already you can tell that there are a lot who have it or might have it and want to find out.
