It's a very frustrating time when you get the hair alge outbreak!! I'm trying emerald crabs. Did a see hair and it did last long before dying.

Going thru the samething right now. I started to run gfo in a reactor and dosing vinegar. Not sure where thr source of phosphates are coming from... Photoperild was 10 hrs a day on kessils but i decreased to 8hrs. Seems to help and outbreak is slowing down a bit. Goodluck

I just had this issue 2 week ago. I turned off the lights for 2-3 days bought a emerald crab, lawnmower blenny, hermit crabs and 2 turbo snails and small crabs. Its all gone. i did pluck some of them out with my hands as well.

I been dosing redsea no3:po4 and it's been helping keeping a low nutrient system. Seems to keep my algea issue on check. It's basically vodka dosing made a bit simpler.

*disclaimer* I did not read through this thread so sorry if I double up on information.
Try feeding less overall. Try to cut back pellet foods, try to shorten your photo period.
Get blue legged hermit crabs they graze on algae.
Also get a few big turbo snails, and a lawn mower blenny if possible.
All of those are natural ways to help keep algae in check.
