this is my first and only build thread i'll probably do on this forum... so bare with me.....

i had this tank sitting around.... originally, it was going to be a clown/nem tank... but i had no place to put it.... i'll let the pictures tell the story....

so i got this clean sweet tank from noah... but then my sister moved in and ruined my life.... my stupid nephew broke the glass lid, and put it on the side of my house without me knowing.... so here it was....

after taking out the rabbit food and old roof shingles out of it... i noticed that the acrylic was warped and un siliconed....

so after i took out the panels, cleaned it out, cut out a small slice of the acrylic, took out all of the calcium buildup, i finally got to re-silicone it up...

here it is with a brick holding down the panel to the silicone....

i let it sit for a couple of days outside.... and it got dirty again... LOL< whatever... but here it is... it's on top of my television's stand... i had to mount my TV to the wall... i've been wanting to do that for a while because it was too low to look at from my couch... unless you lay on the couch.... so now i have room for another 1/2 tanks....

it's under one of my framed original watercolor paintings... tee hee....

don't know if this is too long, so i'll start another post.... hold on.... wait, i'll start it on notepad so no one post in between the build...

lol...

here's the rock i'm using.... it's seiryu stone from ADA... i placed it on a tarp and used my custom smiling my little pony made by artist john hayward from blood and teeth for size refference... love that piece...

here's the first time i put my rock and ADA amazonian soil... this stuff is pretty cool... well, this is the first setup i did... LOL...

then i moved this rock around....

then i done did fuked up by putting flourite sand on top of it... ugh, what a huge mistake...

here's the light fixtre... i'm using a 12W LED projection light bulb... i'm using PVC since the entire living room will fallow the same PVC/steal pipe look for all lighting and some shelves...

the black sand can eat a bucket of slimey dicks... so i took out all of the rocks and the top layer of substrate... some of it is ruined, yeah, but oh well... you live you learn...

and here it is now.... tomorrow i'll go pick up some plants and start planting and crap...

What are you building? What are you going to put in there? Is it going to be a Bonsai tree of some sort and a few Land hermit crabs or something like that? :)

in a couple of months, i hope to have something like this... just with like 2-3 plant types.... dwarf hairgrass or baby tears, with a dwarf crypt on the top of the mountain....

i'm planning on putting around 3 planted tanks on that shelf... then after that, i'll upgrade the reef tank...

btw, i'm planning to do a lot of this in my living room... get rid of my floor lamps and reading lamps.... why...? because i'm some sort of penis loving artsy fartsy fg....

i just don't want to use something so permanent for the aquariums... so brown PVC it is....

Looking good dude. I want a planted tank. For some reason, when I see them, I'm fascinated with them. Just what I need...another hobby...

I got some hair grass gumbii. Not a lot since its just a 6g, but if you'd like some I can pull some for ya. I forget the name, but it's the type that actually stays short without all the timing. Japanese something or other.

I do have some unwanted algae in my tank fyi.

Great start and good call pulling the black sand.

but he'll have homies in there... like some tetras and a snail... LOL...

Cubes are super hard to aquascape, especially in the iwagumi style. You may have better luck using either fewer stones. You could also try using smaller secondary stones. Try to avoid piling the stones on top of each other. Good luck!

yeah i know... and yeah, i took that stone down... i'm setting up a 20g long right next to it to balance the counter out... we'll see how this turns out...

i think i'm going to get glosso instead of dwarf hair grass on this tank... since i'm going low tech.... on the 20 long, i'll get dwarf hair grass since i'll be doing CO2 and errything else that's hot and sepzy....

Finally!!!

One thing you can consider doing it starting it "dry" with the plants and let them grow. Once they are all nicely grown and covered the entire ground then flood it. I've had better luck and also faster growing it out this way than planting under water. Save some CO2 too.

that's what my cousin does. he's got 5 large (120, 90 cube, and 3 40gs) along with a bunch of "starter" tanks that are sitting dry with seran wrap over the top.

the guys guy has more EB8s than I do.. -_-

I have a nano planted shrimp tank, been set up for 3 months now. Pretty easy to maintain, may upgrade to a larger tank soon.
