hanging light height?

how's it going My scr people. need some advice?
I have a quick question I have a 46gallon bow front tank and a 6x39 aquatic life light fixture and I want to hang the fixture I just don't know what would be the best height for it..the height of the tank is 20inch tall. right now the light sit on the tank with the legs and its 3inch from the top of the tank..thanks

I like to keep mine fairly close to the tank to minimize lighting up the room. I don't have a hood. It's about 3 inches from the water surface. I hope this is ok.

i like my lights about 12" off the water. This way i dont have any salt creep on the light.

I would hang it at a height that doesnt blind people that are in the same room.

so I hung the light 6inch above the tank. I like how this way looks better..
