Hey everyone,
Been lurking here for a while so I figured I'd say hello!!!!!
Let's see..........
I've been in and out of this hobby for roughly 25 years.. started out in high school with a 20 FW then switched it to salt. Had a undergravel and canister filter with a shop light for lighting..:a01: Then my mom bought me a 60 gal with a minireef and still the same shop light..... :sarcastic: We moved and i had to take it down so I was out for about 6 yrs...
Well then I decided to get married and shop for a house at the same time, well the house had to accommodate a fish tank. My wife and I finally found a house that would work. LOL
We found a 70 tall for sale cheap and it was pretty much turn key, very old school though, wet/dry t8 etc. etc. It worked though...... for about 7 years........then it sprung a leak....... We decided to just replace the tank but pretty much ended up with a new setup. It was a 55 tall, new MH lights, chiller and stand. Ran that for about 8years, tried some corals with little luck but I think it was the fact that I hardly did water changes and topped off with tap water:a42:
We have a spot in our house where a peninsula tank would be perfect and I always wanted to put one there. Needless to say I asked the wife A hundred times and she finally caved in May of this year :congrats:
She said put together a proposal and it was on!!! Thats when I'd spend countless hours on the forums lurking gaining as much info as I could. Going back and fourth and back and fourth on getting this or getting that for the new tank.:a42: So I finally decided on what I was going with.
So after all that I went with a cadlight 180gal 4 sided starfire tank. I took a few pics of the build I'll post up later but I'm really happy with the out come. It's had fish and some corals in it since July, its doing well but still having "growing pains"
So with that, I'd like to thank everyone on here for all the info I borrowed from you to help make my "dream Tank" come true.
Thanks again, Joe
