you might want to get rid of that canister. It is really hard to keep a successful saltwater tank with a canister. But hey if it's working keep on doing what works for you, and Reef On

Sumps makes reefing so much easier. It hides the mess of HOB items. You can have a in sump skimmer which pulls out fish poop. You can additional LR to the sump which helps with keeping parameters in check. You can run a sock filter as well. Now you can buy an overhang box which will get the water from your tank to your sump. I recommend a CPR CS100.

Thanks and ill start collecting the pieces to make the shift from the canister in a few months. What are good starter fishes to add once my ammonia level is gone? I head damsels are good but then aggressive twords other fish?

Welcome Omar. Clownfish are hardy to and really popular. My suggestion though is think hard about what kind've clownfish you want as there are so many different variations. Once you make up your mind, pick up a pair and call it a day.

I do started with a canister. But after reading on the forums, ditched it for a sump.

One other thing about sumps not mentioned yet, is that as your water level evaporates, your display water level doesn't change. Then the added water volume means any changes in parameters are 'spread out'. So gives you a little room for error.

I also started out with clowns. Teyre hardy and overall, more fun to watch than damsels-not to mention a lot nicer, temperament wise.

Get a pair of clowns first. As mentioned before chromis are amazing fish to introduce into a tank first. Currently have 6 of them in my new tank. I was a dirty pirate and introduced them at .25ppm ammonia. They were all perfectly swimming around and healthy. I advise you to wait till 0ppm, but it is easier said then done. Currently my Ammonia is at 0ppm. Omar if you can get your hands on ATM colony starter it is perfect quick start. Pour the bottle into the tank and the next day you can add fish and even coral. I poured a 50g portioned bottle into my 110 gallon systems and the same day tested water pH was a strong 8.3, Ammonia was 0ppm, Nitrites were at .25-.5ppm, and nitrates I did not test. Make sure you get a good test kit. API i do not recommend for future use other than initial cycle.

Welcome to SCR... canister filter will work fine meanwhile your tank only has fishes, but once you have corals you will need to upgrade your filtering system.
