So I introduced a carpenters wrasse flame angel and mystery wrasse to my 120. The current occupants are the before mentioned, a purple tang, midas blenny and a pair of clowns. As usually everything appeared fine, save for the carpenters wrasse. Very rarely it would violently scrape up against a rock maybe once every 10-15 min for the first day. After the first day it had stopped and looked great. The next five days I closely observed and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. All the while the fish were and still are out and about eating like pigs!

That being said I have noticed a white growth in between the eyes of the carpenters and the lip of my flame also appears white. The growth on the carpenter looks like one large white scale.

What is it?

Hard to tell from the pics but how long had your tank been up?
I know. They're quick little guys lol. I'll work on getting some more pictures up asap.

The tank has been up for about three weeks, however, all the rock and half the water came from my 60 that had been set up for longer than a year.

Update as of this morning; all fish are alive and we'll. No changes in appearance.

The fish are still out and about. Eating very well. The white spot on the flames lip and the blotch between the eyes of the wrasse have not changed. All other fish show no signs.

Thinking a freshwater dip maybe inorder

Well it's been over a week and I still have no idea what's affecting my fish. The white areas have either faded or dissipated completely. All fish are still alive and eating well.

The only real sign is either the flame or carpenters will occasionally scrape up against the sand/rocks. Only these two fish. The only two that have showed any signs.

I don't know what to do.

can you give us more info on what you where initially seeing , you mention white spots fading , where they blemishes or white spot associated with ich or where these areas of the fish more like a loss of color?

The white spot on the carpenters wrasse was in between the eyes maybe an 1/8". That and the occassional flip/scrape against a rock were the only signs. There was only one dot and from my personal experience I don't believe it to be ich.

As for the flame Angel it's top lip turned white the day after I noticed the spot on the wrasse. It also appeared to have the flesh on the front of its dorsal fin recede for two days but has since healed. I have also noticed this fish scrape the sand once or twice.

That is all I have seen. No other fish appear to have any issues. All fish are eating well.
