Hey guys. I'm reading Joyce Wilkerson's book about Clownfishes and and she presents some pretty discouraging statistics about anemone survival rates. She summarizes a survey of 100 hobbyists and reports that only 1 nem out of 18 survived 3 years and only 1 in 36 made it to the 5 year mark. Considering that nems can live for a 100 years or more in the ocean she was pretty negative about us keeping them.

In my old 125 set up about 5 years ago I had a RBT that I got from another hobbyist that survived about 2-1/2 years. It was eating and hosting a pair of pink skunk clowns and seemed to be doing great but then one day just started shrinking away until it was gone.

So my question for the group, what's your experience with your nem? How long have you had it? Was it wild or a split from another hobbyist's nem. I'm really hoping that the changes made in the hobby since the survey (1994-1996) have improved the nem survival rate.
