haven't been here 3 years but compared to the other sites, theres a reason im on here all the time now. i enjoy the open conversations, a little drama and there are people on here who know what they are talking about. i think sites need all three to strive. i feel like there is a time line of reefers that you see on here:
NEWB - guy who lurks and doesn't want to ask stupid questions like whats a sump.
NOVICE - guy who is confident enough to start asking questions, tank might be up 3 months
BEGINNER - guy who is learning, participating buying used stuff
INTERMEDIATE - full tank shots, going to club meets, dosing properly, selling older equipment.
ADVANCED - gives advice to newbs, knows most veterans on/off forums, upgraded tanks at least 3 times. sells nice frags
VETERAN - slowly over time has stopped participating in forums, been in and out of the game for 10 years. has used most reactors, been there done that attitude. well respected.
EXPERT - into the hobby so much that it has become a career, speaks at events, speciallizes in one aspect in the field. the guy who has actually been there, done that
