(finally got my computer back together)
I am glad many of you had a good time and got some great deals.
Attendance this year was lower than what we had expected, but with both the Long Beach Grand Prix and Star Wars conventions occuring on the same weekend, I think we had a pretty steady crowd.
Many of our vendors report having great sales. I find it interesting that some people want to see crowded aisles when in any other situation such a thing is viewed as a nuisance. I guess we can't satisfy all but we try nonetheless. I think this year's raffle (especially Sunday) was one of our best.
I am also suprised that none of the fathers who's children were in the float-your-boat contest have chimed in about it. The variety of shapes and designs that these kids and parents came up with was simply phenominal! I must confess that I spent literally weeks of my time and thousands of dollars building this exhibit in my own backyard before breaking it down and rebuilding it at MAX. All in all, it was worth it.
I just wish we did not have to work 16+ hours three days in a row to put everything together and then tear it down again. I am conditioned for such work however most of my poor staff are not used to such abuse. I hope most people can appeciate the effort put forth by not only our staff but the many exhibitors who come hundreds of miles to exhibit to you so close to home. Whatever the number of people present I hope most were able to find something positive at MAX this year.
Next year's show will be back to the first weekend of the month and so self-correcting from the conflicting dates we experienced this year. Those who are stating something about attendance sliding lower each year are completely off target. We have held a consistent attendance for eight years straight. This was actually our 10th such event if counting the SEAMAX and APEX shows. Looking forward to more comments and suggestions.....See you in 2016!
