The piece was from Legendary Corals and they named it the Blanka I believe, it was a spare of the moment thing lol
I actually got a sweet deal on that piece, the guy had just broke off a frag by accident. Just happened to be passing by.

(finally got my computer back together)

I am glad many of you had a good time and got some great deals.
Attendance this year was lower than what we had expected, but with both the Long Beach Grand Prix and Star Wars conventions occuring on the same weekend, I think we had a pretty steady crowd.
Many of our vendors report having great sales. I find it interesting that some people want to see crowded aisles when in any other situation such a thing is viewed as a nuisance. I guess we can't satisfy all but we try nonetheless. I think this year's raffle (especially Sunday) was one of our best.

I am also suprised that none of the fathers who's children were in the float-your-boat contest have chimed in about it. The variety of shapes and designs that these kids and parents came up with was simply phenominal! I must confess that I spent literally weeks of my time and thousands of dollars building this exhibit in my own backyard before breaking it down and rebuilding it at MAX. All in all, it was worth it.

I just wish we did not have to work 16+ hours three days in a row to put everything together and then tear it down again. I am conditioned for such work however most of my poor staff are not used to such abuse. I hope most people can appeciate the effort put forth by not only our staff but the many exhibitors who come hundreds of miles to exhibit to you so close to home. Whatever the number of people present I hope most were able to find something positive at MAX this year.

Next year's show will be back to the first weekend of the month and so self-correcting from the conflicting dates we experienced this year. Those who are stating something about attendance sliding lower each year are completely off target. We have held a consistent attendance for eight years straight. This was actually our 10th such event if counting the SEAMAX and APEX shows. Looking forward to more comments and suggestions.....See you in 2016!

Great point about the time and effort you guys put in....I went on Sat and picked up a few torch, and acans....I thought the deal was good better than retail and appreciate the vendors that hooked me up with what I bought. thank you all that put on this show and continue to give us the opportunity to get deals and learn new info and products with these shows...I will continue to go and support you guys each year.....

My kids had more fun this year, then any previous max shows we have taken them to (although they are getting older). They won't stop talking about their boats, and now they want to take a bath every night just to play with the boats they made. On Sunday (we did the Saturday races) they took some To go boxes from supermex and made new boats out of styrofoam food containers. With work, we haven't had a chance to take the kids to the duck pond to try out my sons power boat that we won. I'm pretty sure everyone appreciates the hard work that you and your staff puts in to have a great show, although most people would rather complain rather then compliment. I would assume that those people complaining, would complain if you didn't have a MAX show. I posted a couple pictures on the other thread, with my kids and I building their boats, along with my son and Justkeepswimming's son winning their prizes. Thanks for putting in countless hours giving the kids (big kids and little ones) something to talk about until next years show.

This is why we do what we do, Matt.

Your son looks like this is definitely a day he will remember!....exactly the point (by design)

In fact all of the kids are beaming as if it were Christmas in April.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you and your wife Kevin for putting the event together! You did a great job and your work is appreciated! My son is ecstatic about the boats and his new friends! On the flip side, I think the negativity comes from the livestock that was available at the tables. I know you have limited or no control over that so don't take the negative comments personal, your crews hard work has been noticed by many.
Thanks again!
Ps. We have to eliminate that parking fee! This is turning into Disneyland! Jk lol :) :victory:

I'll come down next year for it. Planning on bringing a very large tank (500G + ) online this winter. (if money permits) and I am sure I will be looking for some deals on gear and stock.

I am sure its a lot of work, but do me a favor please...don't invite the schmucks who elected to utilize sleazeball used car sales tactics of stickers on folks back to repeat that crap. Its a total turn off and in my very humble opinion, reflects poorly on the hard work of all those involved with the planning and execution of Max.

My 2 coppers.

We of course have little control over stuff like this unless someone reports it. (I still haven't seen anyone post who it was)

All in all, I think it was a harmless marketing prank (used to call them Publicity stunts in my day) meant to do just what it is doing now....getting people to talk about it.

that whole thing about "no press is bad press"?

yeah, i don't buy that. this is definitely bad press. i haven't heard a single person who thought it was fun/ny.
