Now that I have your attention. I decided to build myself a plywood tank. 3 viewing sides. Outside dimensions are 61.5"Wx27.5"Dx30"H which puts this at 220gal. Actual size will probably be around 200gal. Sump will be a standard 55g, I may remove the fuge from that and make it it's own 10g. I have enough room in the stand for a 14gal quarantine/frag tank as well. Lighting will be LED either from Steve's LED or possibly AquaStyle. Skimmer will be a DIY recirculating skimmer made out of a 5gal water jug. I made up a proto type and modded a old crappy rio pump and it worked pretty good. I have a mag 18 laying around that will work better though.

Ok enough gum flapping, time for the money shot

Yesterdays progress

Front and back going on.

Sides

Gratuitous soda can for comparison shot

Todays

4" euro brace and center support

Started on the 45 degree supports for the corners

I built many wood tanks back in the old country but always used epoxy paint. I spent a lot of time on fingerlakes web site reading up on their builds and decided to go with epoxy resin, works great for boats why not tanks. This is going to be a weekend project so bear with me, it's gonna be slow.

Hahahahahaha...old country...you made it sounds like you were from some eastern block communist state...

"In mother Russia...the water changes YOU!"

Lol...

In mother Russia, tank builds you :drum:

We play this game at work. I mess with everyone when they ask me "Do you have.... in Canada?

Forgot to add, this is an experiment. If this one works out well, I'm planning a 600g in wall when my son leaves for the marines in the fall.
+10000000 on ur son joining up, some of the best times of my life were in the corp, especially while I was in Germany!! Let him know I said NEVER give up!!!! Push push and when u can't push anymore, push some more!!!!!

I will tagging along on this build, if it all works out maybe you'll get some business ha.. GLWB

Sean I just might take you up on that.

Mike, I'm really proud of him for signing up (we were a lot concerned about what he was going to do after school). We will see how labor intensive it is, might be able to do a side line if it works out lol.
