I had no idea how quickly you could kill everything in a tank

Thank you to everyone who has offered to help be restart. I ordered a 50# bag of GAC on eBay I’m thinking I’m going to either get a cheep large canister filter or perhaps fashion a reactor out of a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket

I lost all my big fish, but I have 2 1 gallon buckets or large food pellets, i also just got 5 gallon buckets of magnesium chloride and calcium hydroxide, probably enough for a few years at my previous consumption levels .... now it’s a lifetime supply :(
Dang. Sorry to see this. If you can cancel your order for the bag of GAC, we have almost a full bucket of carbon, and a bunch of reactors, you're welcome to have.

That is a very generous offer... but oak view, I’m sure it’s lovely and I live in Corona :(

the carbon has shipped already and it won’t be here for a week.... which is too little too late. I don’t know that anything will survive except the one percula

I still need ideas for a reactor.

Just do a 100 percent water change?

How do I make 250 gallons of water? I fear there is so much gunk in the knooks and crannies and I’m still holding out hope for my 20 heads of gold torch not much hope but some... it held on good till Sunday and then went down hill fast :(

I don't know, but you are a smart guy I'm sure you could figure it out.

Remove the rock, fill it with RODI, and drop the salt in. Or mix and fill it from the garage, 50 gallons at a time. I dunno, lots of ways. Fill 50 jugs at the LFS and dump them in.

Seems like multiple large water changes would be the way to go rather than reactors.

A LFS may be able to loan you and IBC and fill it with SW if you did want to do the 100% water change.

Mine offered that when I was first filling a tank assuming you have a means to transport one.

A bunch of brute cans should get you to 250. I think you would need about 10. Ok, that might not be practical. What about a water drop of ocean water from the company we use for Poolooza.

At this point I’m considering bleaching the tank and starting from scratch. Perhaps go bare bottom and install bottom euro brace

IDK, it’s kinda depressing. It’s like the end of a relationship, show much growth just gone!

also considering gutting my halide fixture and installing radions....the display is 5’4” long so I think 4 sideways would work? I really like the form factor of the Geismann fixture in my foyer.

It sounds like you've lost the majority of stuff at this point, a restart might be a good idea. Fresh start, change things up and fix anything you wish you did in the first place.

Damn, that's an expensive hybrid right there! It is a gorgeous fixture, if you think you could do it without permanently altering the fixture go for it. If not sell it, that'll pay for a radion. 4 perpendicular to the tank would be perfect. Having made the switch myself the blues will be very blue to your eye, consider going pros if you are going g5.

I think rebooting would be best. I would use starboard if you are going bare bottom instead of euro brace. It will look better. I suggest black.

50 pounds of carbon showed up today and with the bonus a couple of really large bags. It’s 50 pounds five days too late but I’m gonna load up my filtered cups and see if I can save what little is still alive

Silly guy that's just where it originated. Look up what other viruses are called it's is common for the name to be from the country of origin. I don't buy into your sensitivity. If I said Spanish flu oh no. We are all humans and I have nothing against anyone or any culture or religion etc.

You should just call it SARS-2 because china virus, Wuhan flu and and Hong Kong fluy are racist where as South Asian respiratory syndrome is not racist.

Either way please let’s not get this thread completely derailed with newspeak. That would be double plus un-good.

Sorry about that Mark. Did anything survive the tank crash? small fish?
1 percolate clown... a few heads of gold torch are hanging on, and a few other LPS are hanging on.

I’m leaning toward reboot. I would need to find a home for the survivors while I aquascape and starboard or eurobrace the bottom.

I am not looking forward to the dinos and cyano and various blooms :(

I think I’m just going to run it for a month and see if any fermented or aptasia survived.... they seem to have been wiped out.
