I swear I am having horrible luck with controllers this month. First 1 of my apex wav pumps shorts and fries a port on EB8 2 weeks ago. Then today while I was brushing teeth noticed the aquarium just went silent. All power completely lost except all lights were lite on EB8. So I pulled the plug off of the light socket plug in to wall, all the lights turned on. Grabbed a spare EB8 that has a few burnt out plugs my buddy let me check out. We have a winner plugged lights in and they worked after setting up the outlets. So now I am limping along going to order a new apex and extra power bar tonight.

If the WAV fried the ports, it’s likely the 24V PS got fried. Is that true? If so, it’s an easy fix — I’ve done this before with the help from one of R2R members.

So the eb8 can not recieve signal from the brain. All outlets show power but nothing comes on. I am always down for a good project. But probably not worth it to be honest.
Got it — so this is an eb8 and not eb832? If that’s the case, might be too old to save a buck/two. You could try to fix it and keep as a spare perhaps?

That seems to replace the power supply. Mine powers up just does not actually allow power to be sent to lights ect. Outlets show powered up but then again I'm not an electrician.

Right. There is another 12v PS in there too — that one might be fine but what’s powering the WAV and other devices are 24v.

Hey — I’m no electrician as well!

Tell you what - how much you want for it? I’ll buy from ya and try to fix it — save as a backup! Ha

a lot of reefers use that repair vendor I linked. I saved it in case my eb832 goes out. I don't trust my electronics DIY.

I have and they are GTG

last time my Apex “hated me” I sent stuff to them and they fixed it all. Now I am running my emergency bought in a panic Apex classic and the one I sent to fixreef is cloned and sitting in a box on my shelf with several other hot spares like EB8 etc.

I think next time, if I ever get a minute to change everything out, @wishntoboutside convinced me to switch to hydros I meet with the hydros people at RAP and honestly, their stuf is built very well. Unlike Neptune who uses the absolute cheapest board level components they can possibly get away with. Who the heck makes a salt water tank controller with ZERO design consideration for splashes and spray let alone humidity? It’s a joke. IIRC, the hydros equipment is all IP65 rated or at least it looks like it is.
