Ice Probe on 12 Gallon JBJ

Hey guys old reef guys coming back with my first tank in 5+ years.

So I have a 12g JBJ with lots of add ons I got from my friend before he passed away and want to do this tank up. Fast forward two years and I just bought the stand and am ready to start cycling this tank soon but with the summer coming I want to do it right and run a chiller.

I cant seem to justify spending $300 on a chiller for a tank that might have 8g of water in it. I keep looking at those ice probe setups and they look cool but I am also hesitant.

Anyone got any comments on using an Ice Probe and the compatibility with a 12G JBJ?

I got one for my 8 gallons and keeps it at a cool 78 but you will need a controller like an apex jr
