What a "SHAME" that this secret isn't shared to all of the new reefers when they get started. I've been in this Hobby for almost three years now, and I barley found out about this stuff four days ago! After dosing my tank I have to say that this is by far the best "INFO" I have ever gotten from anyone!

I was told that after a twelve hour dose, that not only will it kill bugs that eat up corals, but also, my Corals will love me for it! Well this stuff really works! From one day to the next, I noticed that all my corals where fatter then fat, and after one more day the colors are starting to brighten up! WOW!

If I was told about this stuff when I started this hobby, I probably would have saved some of the $5,000.00 plus dollars I lost in the first year of my adventure!

If you lose one coral at a time while all the others are fine, then most likely you have a coral eating bug! And if you want this to stop! Then you must intercept them with "INTERCEPTOR"!

Here's some links http://www.melevsreef.com/redbugs.html
http://www.petcarerx.com/pcrx/Default.aspx?upsid=1652&id=1652

I'm only telling this because, we need to help each other, and we need to save our reef, and save cash out of your pocket! :five:

i've been using interceptor for years... where hath thou been...?

i believe we should help each other, but also we shouldn't be afraid to ask the wrong questions... i also think everyone, EVERYONE should invest in a high quality magnifying glass... like a 30 dorra one... that way you can see the red bugs crawling on your sticks... or even a microscope... but that's a little bit over the top... i remember some reefer on theytube had one of those electric eye toys... like the one that has a trillion zoom... it worked well on his tank... i has to find they video on theytube...

Yeah I thought Interceptor was only for red bugs but it also kills other bugs that eat at lps. I love dosing this stuff, everytime I do my corals go crazy for it with their polyps fully extended.

Yes Gumbi you are right LOL

I think I had black bugs though. My lps were receeding and dying and interceptor did the job and cured them. After that they were happy again

Nah you never gave me a link on black bugs but id love to read the info on it though please. I did a search a while back on RC about lps receeding and a lot of people said black bugs were coming in from Australia that feed off of lps tissue.

yes... it is a parasite from aussie corals... everyone that got them just got some new piece of acans or something... days later horrible infestation...

nah, i don't remember what link it was... it was a thread on RC... someone made a thread here about it... and i said, black bugs and gave him the link... sure enough it was black bugs... nothing else eats LPS like that and the only cure was interceptor for him... good thing he treated before all his chalice were gone...

seems that there isn't that much info out there because there are several different types of black bugs... acro eating black bugs, monti eating black bugs and so forth... some just infest and eat random corals... but the australian black bugs will eat a colony of LPS in a day or two... crazy...

Does anybody know if the pill for smaller dogs works as good as the larger ones? They are much cheaper in price. I'm told that the pill I got was good for 400 gallons, so I had to cut the pill, I'm just wondering if I purchase the cheaper one for smaller dogs, I wouldn't have to cut it?

The meds are the same percentage per mg in each pill, but the smaller dogs pills are smaller... larger are 1 gram.
Dose is 25mg per 10g water, or 1/4 of the pill for 100 gallons.

from the interceptor web site:
Description and Composition

Oral tablets of 4 strengths are available:

*
INTERCEPTOR 2.3mg, a tablet containing 2.3 mg of milbemycin oxime.
*
INTERCEPTOR 5.75mg, a tablet containing 5.75 mg of milbemycin oxime.
*
INTERCEPTOR 11.5mg, a tablet containing 11.5 mg of milbemycin oxime.
*
INTERCEPTOR 23mg, a tablet containing 23 mg of milbemycin oxime.

the biggest will treat 380G, then next will treat 190G, next will treat 95G, and the smallest will treat 38G

Dosing by total tablet weight (you will need a very fine scale) you need 2.6mg of pill per gallon.

380G = 1gram pill

ok so this stuff kills all inverts thats how it works right? so snails, shrimp, crabs, starfish, all have to come out first right? but some how it will not kill the corals? what about sponges? any coral that cant live with it? how do fish take to it?

i know i should just set up a hospital tank to do it but if the whole tank might have them then wouldnt the whole tank need to be treated?

i dont have any sps right not, its all at my buddies tank for baby sitting while i do the new tank build. i just want to learn more about it.

I was told that you only have to remove shrimps, and snails, I'm not sure about star fish, I didn't remove my BTRA and she's fine!
