But the aquarium silicone has mold inhibitors? Seems strange. Just google the name. I bet there is already an RC thread about it.

Absolutely do not use GE silicone of any kind. The Home Depot DAP sealant All purpose adhesive sealant is advertised aquarium safe and for repairing cups you drink from. I don't know why but I wouldn't grab a tube of GE silicone and repair a crack in a coffee mug (not that I'd repair a coffee mug) but the pic is on the package.

Check this link out, especially the bottom where is gives the full MSDS for the GE 1 silicone.

I used the GE silicon I on everything with no problems. There's tons of threads on this, google it.

This is what I use and they sell it at Home Depot next to the glass section. Even the label description notes that is excellent for marine applications.
GE #1 Blue as pictured by Six2seven is the one to use.

I made my research on different forums when I first started the hobby, a couple years ago. And I've used it in different diy sumps I've made with no I'll effect. So from my personal experience this works and it's reef safe

This is the one i used in my sump got it from my lfs up in slo county they said you could build a tank with it

That is not aquarium marine. It says to be used above water
