That peg board looks really clean and slick. Damn, wish I had thought to do that. LOL.

Plumbing is super simple with sump. And way way better than AIO.
The siphons that happen when you turn off the pump are what have me a bit worried. I'll obviously test it, but I'd like to get an idea of how much margin I already have before turning it on. I.e., will it overflow the sump if I have the water level up to the weirs (about an inch above the top of the return RFG), and the sump at the current level?

Should be happening soon! Just have some tank maintenance to do on my 40 and 10 before working again on the new one.

Just drill a siphon hole at the highest point of return in the DT. Point it down or sideways. Your return run looks short, so shouldn't have too much backflow once you put in the siphon hole in right spot.

Made a bit of progress on Thurs night and Friday. Control board is nearly done. Hydros set up. Power strips and Orphek power supply bolted up. More water. On Monday I will check the plumbing and get the return pump running.

It's wet!!! Is that new sand? I would dump a bottle of Fritz turbo 900 in there and let it cook. Or just some of your live rock and sand over from the other tank, and let the bacteria seed the new sand.

No skimmer and lights off.

Half the sand is newly rinsed and half the sand has been sitting for about a month and change with the DT rock, the sump rock, the sump powerhead, heater and an airstone. I added pods, phyto, Fiji Mud and Fritz turbo 900 at the beginning, so it's been cooking.

Then the three rock islands from the 40 are getting transferred over, hopefully starting next week.

Getting closer. Working out the plumbing. Small leak in the return plumbing. Will have to see how to fix that, but likely replace the teflon tape.

Also picked up some frags from Calikid today. Added a bit of my macro to the sump. Next comes the hard part... Tank transfer.

Haha, that's mostly a delayed R2R giveaway I won in September. I couldn't delay mich longer. Also had a few auction wins. Won the elegance for $45, not too bad.

Don't get me started on auctions. Last year, I went on an auction binge. I think I still have 15 SPS frags that I need to pick up. Good thing I know the guy, but he may have forgotten that I haven't picked up yet. Reminds me that I need to head down there one of these days. I've quit auctions, it's too addicting.

After a very long Thursday night in the office and skipping half a days work on Friday (as well as pulling 2 employees off for half a day), the office tank upgrade is *almost* complete! Still a few stragglers left in the 40 and a ton of Aiptasia (which can stay there), but most of the transfer is done!

Love the flat tops :)
Yup, they'll be much happier with the extra 6" or so of water above them!

Here's what I'm thinking for the new rock (attached). Acros on the top and/or a clam. The Orphek can put out 400 PAR on top of that rock pretty easy. Just need to be careful about not cooking the sand bed corals. Will have to wait until things stabilize, but I want to go a different direction than the other SPS island. The Stylo, birdsnest and digitatas can keep fighting with each other. They are uncontrollable. I'd have to do a clean wipe of that rock and start over (maybe keep the psammy). I'll just let it do it's thing. The new rock can be a limited selection of hardy Acros. Unfortunately the monti/birdsnest/stylo trifecta nearly killed off my garf bonsai I got from you. I kept trimming away the branches that were creeping over it, but it was the Aiptasia that fianlly did it--came up the back side of that rock and killed off the bonsai and the bottom parts of the birdsnest/montis. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another garf is definitely on the list. I loved that coral but did a poor job in placing it.

When you’re ready I probably have a booger of Garf Bonsai or similar when you pick up the rest of your corals
