If you’re going to recirc — make sure that your skimmer can auto shut off if full and not suck all those media back into the tank — total tank nuke!

Create a loop — have skimmer suck air thru the media and return from skimmer cup back into the scrubber.

Ahhh....understood. Does the cup then need to be air-tight and Will I need an air-dryer then on the return? Otherwise I'm sure that over time, moisture will get into media area.

No no -- you're making this harder than it is! :) No extra tools needed. Just run tubings as pictured.

Check this out:

First, the moisture entering the chamber is actually welcomed/required to prolong the media's lifespan. I've covered up (with duct tapes) the holes on top of the skimmer's collection cup.
