so if you can make it out there is a baby benghai cardinal In the middle of the pic. Found him yesterday in my sump. Somehow made it through the drain and just happen to be perfect timing as filter sock was overflowing from being a little dirty and has lived in the sump with enough food to grow to a 1/4" fully formed fish. Is pretty cool.

Yeah had to have been. I have never put a baby in my tank although I have 2 pretty large ones that must have bred. It's the only one I can find though.

Only one I can find. I didn't have any idea they had even spawned until I found this guy yesterday. I'm assuming it would be a few weeks for him to he this big so it's a little trooper for the ride it must have went through going through tank, overflow, drain, filter sock and then living in my sump with all the bristle worms and the peppermint shrimp(that also went through drain).

You should remove your sock for a few months and see what happens. I'd bet you get a few more. What a cool find.

I've actually thought about running no sock since I have a dsb, live rock, cheato and oversized skimmer.

Socks aren't necessary IMHO. With a well thought out sump and not over feeding your water quality can be super clean.

So do I. I put some wicked feast in there yesterday and also some flakes. I have no idea what it's been eating but hopefully it will eat what I have to feed now.
