Could be many factors..All original rock and sand from probably 5 to 6 years ago. I over feed my 10 fish frozen food never and really don't rinse food. Bad batch or ro/di from lfs.

I used the Brightwell Phosphate-E and it took my p04 from 10, not .10 but 10, to under 1 in 3 days.

GFO costs more in the long run especially for those with larger tanks. Large public reef aquariums has been using it for years with no problems. They use sand filters to filter out the precipitate.Since we dont have sand filters some people uses 10 micron filter socks and drip Lanthanum mixed with RO/DI water into it.

I also had pO4 of higher than 10 on a large FO system drop to 1 in about a week. One needs to be carefull not to remove it so fast in a reef setting.

I can pull out a crystal clear glass of tank water, add one drop of the stuff to the glass, give it a stir and literally watch it bond and solidify (precipitate) with the phosphates. Amazing stuff!
