For instance I have the donatella v1 that everyone was arguing about and it doesn't look anything like the pics posted everywhere, come see it in my tank yourself ;) And for 200 or whatever per polyp that my comrade is a RIP OFF. Bad for the hobby in general.

Have u guys ever thought about the water parameters and lighting are the huge factors on the coloration of your corals?? For instance, my utter chaos are totally different from my buddy's utter chaos even though I got my from his. I compared my CARs to 2 other local reefers and none of em look exactly identical. I recently have sold a donatella 2.0 to a local z n p collector who saw the paly personally. After 2 weeks, he called me up that the paly lost its coloration. His has a different lighting from mine. 40k MH vs 20K MH vs T5 vs LED vs T5 + LED combo all produce different coloration on corals. Also, phosphate and nitrate levels affect the coloration of z n p as well. Different Camera and lenses also capture the pic differently.

Maybe another thread can be created which all the requirements are being set, so that there is no misleading on the pics....

It's cool and I completely agree about parameters that's not at all my point.

Shoot that donatella with your cell phone just for fun and post it. I'm curious is all now. And I didn't mean to imply you or buddy are misleading folks my point was with these macro shots many times they don't look like that with our eyes. Like a thin strip of rainbow on a macro shot may look like a dark or different colored stripe to our eyes in person. That's all I mean.

Of course not, then you will need a macro eye LOL,

But seriously, the purpose of the macro lens is to capture the details your eyes can't see! ..
Now, when I shot the pictures I try to get the pictures the most accurate possible.
80% of the pictures are taken under AIs Sol blue 20% white, 90% blue, if you take a look at my pictures, you can tell they are not blue saturated.

You've been in my house before and seen our corals in person. Prolly some people don't trust in our pictures but at the end of the day when they come our house or at the shows they like the corals they are seeing and I don't think is for the pics, is for corals quality.

In that case, what is the whole purpose of using high end camera and lenses to capture all the macro details in this hobby? Everyone should start to use their cell phone to take shots, and all the corals will become so dull and boring.

I don't look through a macro lense when I look at my tank. Again that wasn't my point. Do you feed your fish looking through a macro lense also?

Aside from the beauties of photos and the colors macro lenses bring out... Why would that matter to me strictly as a reef hobbyist?

It's just like you're complaining about a fancy picture of the golden gate bridge. If you want just plain photos let us know and we can get them for you... Sorry Bean.

I'm waiting for the dull photos of both of your tanks lol I already asked for cell phone shots. Heck even if they're a little blue no worries. Be like some of us regular folk with tanks and camera phones.

Alright, I just got home and was able to use my Samsung Galaxy 3 to capture a quick shot. I moved the frag so the polyp was a bit closed up. To be more specific, the pic was shot under LEDs.

Thanks for sharing. But you didn't need to mention the selling particulars to prove your point. I just wanted to see regular photos is all I've been saying sorry I used your pic in the beginning. Mind sharing your tank?

Bean. I get it. You don't want macro pics. I'll stop posting and just share them on other forums that would like them rather than this one. Sorry.
Ok sure... Not to sound like a Jerkface but you two sure are getting offended with my comments. Hermes mentioned how dull and brown he corals would look if you all didn't use macro lenses... Then contradicted that with showing the polyp with the galaxy three and it looks nice.

I'm on all the forums that doesn't matter haha just being honest. Can't we just have a discussion?
