anyone know how to decontaminate live rock? it was sitting in a biocube submerged for months, recently little white worms are all over the tank. I want to "nuke" them, just don't know how. I may need to wind up buying new rock but some of the pieces are really nice and I would like to try to salvage them,,

Any ideas??

-thanks:lock1:

dry it out...then recure...leave it out in the sun for few days

or run it in bucket with salt water...for weeks...without source of food those worms should die...but...who knows how long that will take.

I would pressure wash them to death with hot water then leave them out to die some more. Muric acid and vinegar also come to mind. Do a search on google or RC.

yup, just did this exact thing (minus the muric acid) to my friend's tank with 100+ lbs of rock, after a month it went back in clean as a whistle (a clean one that is) into a 120g tank and now the tank is cycled and ready to go PEST FREE.
