:mad2: Im super pissed at myself. I am working with the brs 2 part and I was going through there calculator to adjust my alk to the level I wanted to maintain. Everything going fine but I read the calculator wrong and instead of dosing the oz of it called for I dosed the teaspoon amount in oz. Basicly instead of dosing 6oz I dosed 30oz . I only had 40 gal of saltwater mixed up so I changed out the 40 and just picked up 55 more RO from jason TRFS he had just sold out his last saltwater in the bin. So Im mixing 55 and another 25 that I made while I went to Jasons. Any other advice except WC? Normaly I mix my salt 24hrs do you think I could mix it for an hr or so and be ok? So far nothing looks pissed ( well except my open brain ) all fish doing fine. I feel like a complete idiot :suicide:

12 isn't too high for alk... my PH has been around 8.6 lately as well... I wouldn't stress too much about it.

sorry for all the posts... once i did the same and my alk took off to 16... 12 is a little on the high end but your sps will love it. the biggest thing is to balance your CA... with alk at 12 your CA should be at 445ppm. once you're in balance the alk will drop about a point a day... depending on your bio load.

wow, when i mixed about 55g of saltwater I let it cycle for 1 hour and that's pretty much it. never waited for 24hrs.... I would do small water changes so you dont have giant parameter swings..

Well ph is not as bad as thought. Looks like I need to calibrate my probe. It reads 8.7 but 2 different test kit show 8.4. I think i'm gonna do another 40gal and check things in the morning nobody looks upset except that brain he's pissed for sure I will cross my fingers on him

Do you have phosphate e by brightwell? That always drops my alk when I dose it.
I do not but thanks for the idea. I did a total of 80 gallon WC. I will check things in the morning I think i'm in the clear now, I hope. Thanks for the help and support. Just having people to share it with helps my nerves. I was freaking out a bit at first. Lesson's learned. When we can learn from our mistakes it makes it better or at least easier

I'd only be worried about SPS...most lps don't care...I ran my alk at 11.8 for weeks with no problem...I'd be careful doing those huge water changes one after the other, that might do more damage.

What I tell you??.... Calcium reactor!! Lol. Good luck

Yeah then my regulator gets stuck and nuke my tank. Oops sorry too soon. Lol

No just a stupid mistake on my part mixing up lines on my computer screen. 80 gal on my system is not a ton. WC was needed anyway now I just got a little bigger one then expected

:redface-oops-6:Watch your calcium levels . When my alk. gets a little high, it uses up more calcium. I would just let your alk. come down on its own ( slowly ) and keep a eye on the calcium.
