Freed up some space and was able to move the gorgonian to the back and the green toadstool up closer. Layout is better and the anemone has more room. I still need to choose what tree-softy or two I want long-term and replace the Capnella with that, and get the zoas onto their respective rocks eventually. But for now I can see all the macros again so that's a win :)

I did notice red planaria :( currently not at plague levels but I want to treat.

Is the current red planaria treatment the same as it was awhile ago? I treated a ~200gal system like a decade ago and it was

1. remove feather dusters (what about shrimp?)
2. baste & siphon as many flatworms as possible
3. prep for 50% WC
4. flatworm exit at recommended dose, net as many out as they die, keep this up for 1hr or so with pumps on
5. 50% WC, add carbon after
6. wait a couple days, remove carbon and do flatworm exit again, then 50% WC, carbon, and return the polychaetes?

Seems I might have a scleractinian hiding amidst softies! Any idea what this might be?

Seems to have been a hitchhiker on the rock the Sarcophyton elegans came on. Definitely was there the whole time, just getting big enough for a photo now. For scale, the whole thing is maybe an inch diameter now, maybe slightly less?

Awesome hitchhiker! Any new growth?

Maybe grown a bit in size, but it's a little hard to tell because it definitely inflates/deflates over the day and based on hunger, so i would need to be a little more regimented about when I check on it for size. but I haven't seen any new polyps show up, and it hasn't added another mouth or look like it's pinching like a lobo.

Still a mystery to me, still happy every time I look at it. It must be getting like 30-50 PAR max, it's fully shaded by the leather and brightest in the tank is a little over 200par.

Celebrating the lack of spam (thanks mods!!!!) with some updates!

Power was out here a little over 24h last week - luckily we were just outside the evacuation warning, so I was able to monitor tanks and babysit the battery backup to keep the tanks aerated, and hot water bottles to keep temp up. The Capnella forest is lush as ever, need to do something about it eventually but for now, glad everything made it through. Wishing safety and similar good luck for everyone else on here going through these fires and winds. stay safe everyone.

Looking fantastic. My Gorgonian doesn’t grow much, its photosynthetic but think perhaps it doesn’t get enough food

the yellow leather with green clown goby is an awesome pic. That’s one of my favorite fish.

Thanks! The green clown goby is probably my favorite fish, this exact fish was literally the first fish I got after I started the hobby back up a couple years ago.

I saw your gorgonian in your recent post, yours looks awesome. It looks more of a dark purple? This one is a Grube's gorgonian I think, so about as weedy and domesticated as you can get I think :p it's easily doubled for me in about 8 months. But tank doesn't really have any filtration so food is hopefully not in short supply.

Yes, dark purple. It’s pretty but wish it would grow more!

That sounds like a really nice find then. I've seen dark purple in the thick branched gorgonians but in the thin, whippy ones that's a really cool color. Nice find and fingers crossed it takes off for you!
