I've been lurking around SCR for sometime now checking out member tanks and watching the market place. I figure its about time I introduce myself.

I just finished a nano build so I figured I'd post up some pictures.

18x18x14"T Leemar cube that I converted into an AIO. This tank is an upgrade from a Evolve 8 that got me into the hobby about 1 year ago, before then I was all about FW planted tanks. Its been up and running for 3 days now but everything was cycled and came from my last tank.

Lighting is a AI Nano mounted to a Kessil gooseneck with a bracket I made. Loving the light output but the fixtures controls are somewhat of a joke. I also have the director coming so looking forward to that.

Current livestock are a variety of LPS and softies, a CUC and yellow line possum wrasse for now. I may ad some type of SPS down the road. Possibly a monti cap or sunset.

Maybe someone on here can give me some tips on how to take a decent picture, everything always looks blue and washed out. The meteor shower is eventually going to be broken up and glued to the back wall to create a live wall.

If anyone has some kind of advice as to what I could use as a ATO reservoir that wouldn't look bad I'd appreciate it. It evaps almost a liter a day. Before I add any SPS I need to get a lid or figure out this ATO situation.

Nice tank! Another small tank or custom acrylic reservoir are your best bet. Get a screen over the top asap aswell. I have a rimless tank and I lost like 3 fish before I finally made one

Yeah I need to get on that. The PW is super mellow but I'm sure if spooked he'd make the leap of death. I'm thinking of going the route of a vase or some type or glass cylinder. Something to blend into the kitchen better.

Is that a vortech mp10Wes.
Yes that's the mp10 wireless. I found it used on this site and love it. I have the non-wireless on my NC24..its only got 1 more wire. So I'm assuming the only plus with the W is pairing it up with other mp10s

Welcome Matt, nice looking tank.
Thanks! I was limited on my scape since most the rock already had frags grown onto it, but I'm happy with result.

Yeah its a cool little light. I replaced my MH HQI hood on my 24 with one due to heat issues. I'm running it at 100% but nothing seems to be starved for light. Can't wait to get the director so I can use it to its full potential.

Picked up a new torch and Kenya for the nano today, along with a pair of black ice clowns. Stoked but now I really need to get a top going.

Getting the colors closer to what they look like in this one.

Looking good. Very nice cove-like aquascape.

For an ATO resevior on that tank, you could use a thin gallon jug, they are pretty easy to hide as they are only 2 1/2" thick.

Yeah I'd say 18" is about the max for the height the kessil gooseneck allows. Cool little light though.

Currently I'm battling some form of algae....I hope. I thought it was cyanobacteria but its more of a brownish color and was unaffected by a few chemi-clean treatments. Its brownish, stringy and seems to produce a lot of bubbles when the lights are on. Its very annoying as all my zoanthids are semi closed, its stuck to rocks and acans as well.

I'll try to get some pictures of it and see if you guys can identify what it may be. I've also noticed super tiny red "slugs" in both of my nanos. They don't look like worms, but slugs with antenna and all. About half the size of a grain of rice and pure red. Seem to hang out on the back wall and glass. Highly active as well.

Heres a vid right when the outbreak started, hard to see. Sorry for the shaky movement.

On the up side I got a gold maxima clam that's doing great.

Here's the algae I am talking about. It's on the rocks and corals. Sometimes the sand bed. Slimy and stringy. I've done to chemi clean treatments without any recession.

Any ideas as to what it is?

Bubbles when the lights are on. Brown in color. In both high and low flow/light areas

Look like Dinoflagellates.
Take the frag out and rinse in tank water cup. Manual remove.

Thanks Jesse. I like the dimensions of this little thing, easy to work on/in with it being shallow.

Alright I'll start there. Remove all I can then maybe do a black out for 2-3 days. I have it in both my tanks. The 24 has a RBTA and this tank has a gold maxima. Will both survive a total black out for a few days? I've read that's the only way to really beat dinoflagellates.

Bingo!

I had a really bad breakout in my fish only tank and large water changes with 0tds water is what worked for me. I also used water from my sps tank and it seemed to help bring in good bacteria.

You can also go the easy way out and buy bottled bacteria. Seems to have worked for a few people but I have no experience with it.

Both effective ways of getting rid of Dino's.
