Always ask to see the tds reading. Anything under .008 is fine imo. If they cant show you the reading then run!

Yes you can. There are TDS pens, bout 2-3 time thicker than a pen, alot of LFS carry for $25-35. Super easy, click on, place in water, read numbers and turn off

Be careful of mom and pop shops. Reason I say this, I know a LFS in riverside that uses tap water and adds chemicals to treat it !

I started a thread on levels of this sbout3 years ago. Don't use it unless you test. Most places the Tds was above 50 in my area. One place had 7.

A lfs sold me rodi with like 250tds... I was pretty pissed...all it made me do was set up my rodi again... the water machines out here are around 20tds

Been using this one store in reseda for 7 years no problem. He was actually nice enough to show me the Tds level when I asked him:) really nice couple.
