I doubt the temperature in and of itself did it. My tank ranges from 78-82 in the summer.
As Bullitr said sometimes fish just randomly stop eating for whatever reason.
I don't know where you're at, but I got mine from reef raft and I know they get their fish from Hawaii. In my research apparently moorish idols from hawaiian or Mexico waters tend to do better.

Mine was from reeflouge. Never asked where it was from but it was devouring pellets so I snatched it up. Next time I'll ask and I think fish will now come from reef raft for sure. Healthier fish are worth the extra expense.

It's hit or miss with any fish. Moorish idols in particular. Just ensure the next one you buy has either been in the stores tanks for a few weeks, or if that isn't possible, then just make sure it isn't skinny and the top streamer isn't damaged

Yeah mine didn't even have a top streamer. Figured it was nipped off. Do they grow longer with age or look like all the pics online.

Here's how they look in the wild. as I understand it, even If damaged they'll eventually grow back. although damaged streamers aren't an end of a moorish idol, it's merely indicative of how it was behaving prior.

glad to report the MI is still doing well; eating Nori, New Era Grazer discs and pellets with gusto. Also hasn't been picking at any new corals since I added the grazer discs/nori and increased the pellet feedings.

Although it doesn't have the streamer that babyjess210' s mi has, mine is still doing well. Started feeding it Julian sprungs nori as well as LRS REEF frenzy
yea i think long streamers are beautiful but in reality all that matters is that they do well long term and so far , you're on the right track with yours. Cant wait to get kennys...err uh my very own MI. Lol

Been a couple days since I started feeding tank with LRS Reef frenzy - the Moorish is starting to eat some of the food, although it still prefers mainly pellets or nori.

in my quest to do things other than work, heres something I found interesting:

"Food Habits of Moorish Idol

These species are very selective while taking food but by nature, they tend to be omnivorous. They generally feed on brine shrimp and vegetable foods as their diet. Moorish like to graze but are very timid while eating in front of others. They usually eat about twice or thrice a day."

Maybe this is another reason why they are so difficult to feed within home tanks?
